My Seymour Duncan Twin Tube is making a static sound when engaged. http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/effects-pedals/sfx03_twin_tube/

Can you fix it? It has military grade tubes in it , not 12AX7's as usual.

(High-quality, two-channel, guitar preamp. Uses a duet of premium, mil-spec, subminiature, USA-made Phillips-Sylvania® 6021 dual triode tubes.)

DBM,

Dar is out of town training for his new job.

Without knowing the cause of the static, I can tell you this.  Those tubes are not socketed because there are no tube sockets made for that size tubes.  Because of this, even for tube replacement, you have to send it back to the factory.  Given that it might be a tube problem, you might be better of sending it back there anyway.

However, could Dar fix it?  Yes, he could.  Not speaking for him or anything, but just starting a new job and all, he might be too busy in the near future.  He can answer that when he get's back.

If you could be more specific about what and when it's doing, and if any of the switches, knobs or otherwise seem to affect it ect., I might have some better advice.
Thanks Howie, I am trying to get feedback from the Duncan website, so far no response in 2 e-mails. I will probably just buy another tube distortion device, and bag the twin tube if the fix is more than fifty dollars.

By the way nothing changes the sound, only switching it off works.
more info please.  The normal sound, plus static?  Guitar sound but not as much as usual, plus static?  Nothing but static?  Elaborate.

Engage pedal on either overdrive setting and static appears,  more on the more drive setting. Guitar plugged in, but not played. When guitar is played no static, just tone.
Is the tone the same as it's always been?  If so, that probably rules out a tube failing.  If there's been any loss of gain, output level or just quality of tone, then it could be a tube failing.

Well Seymour Duncan has not deemed it important enough to call me or e-mail me back, so I just think I will buy another pedal, of course not from Seymour Duncan.
Have you called them?  I found them very helpful and their customer service is ranked highly.

Called once and e-mailed them 2x no reply. Of course I was pleasant in all cases. No response.
sounds like a perfect case for the Assman warranty. :D

Can't, I have it all marked up. Besides I try and have integrity in my dealings.

A few hundred lousy dollars is no reason to compromise my personal integrity.

Money ain't everything, especially if you have way more than you need. Which we do.
I'm still surprised that they haven't responded.  I've always heard that they customer service was good.
It seems that the Tech Support guy is off this week and all the big wigs are at the Rock And Roll hall of fame for Les Paul's induction. I got that info from one of the employees on their forums.

WTF??!  How could it possibly be that Les Paul wasn't inducted like 40 years ago??!  :-?
He was with Mary Ford so this must be as s solo artist.

Integrity is a 3 way street by company, dealer and consumer. GC and Sam ash are about as sketchy as it gets, they sell used gear as new all the time, then try to play dumb. yeah right. I have no problem playing the same game with them.

Well I disagree, integrity is only a one way street. It has nothing to do with others. If someone buys used gear as new, it is their fault because we all know businessmen do not have much integrity. So if we know this then we observe closely and we can see what is up. I never get used gear anymore, if I do I send it right back. You can always tell by the packaging, unless it is from the factory repackaged. Integrity is a personal choice, you either have it and practice it or you don't, there are no gray areas as far as I can tell.

so if i buy a piece of new gear thats in its original package and find out when i open it its been used, Its my fault? Ive had this done to me several times and ofcourse i understand that there can be mixups but not on a regular basis.

I treat people with the same integrity that they treat me. If someone makes it hard for me to get my rightful warranty, I take matters into my own hands and have no qualms about doing it.
Anyways integrity is personal.

I could not swap mine out because I have had it for too long. But if I thought it was a used piece of gear when I bought it, I would have sent it back immediately. I only buy from on line stores to avoid the tax and usually it also includes free shipping. I used to get used shit sold as new from 8th street music, so I quit buying from them.
I bought some integrity a while back, but it didn't work right so I took it back.

I didn't have any when I saw the wife of a friend out without him, looking for a drilling, but that was back in the day when I was young and dumb and full of come. Nowadays the wives are safe around me.
If your gonna can it Harv, I'll happily pay the shipping to the UK and you can donate it to the "Spud's School Of Teach-yourself Electronics" that I've just set up.

Donate any non-working pedal for me to practice repairs on is the idea. I plan on making it into a little side-line just for shits-n-giggles.
And only now do I read your post that they already have it for repair  ::).
Yep they have it now. I got the delivery notice from the UPS website.
