Unfortunately, this forum doesn't go back in time far enough, but I'm trying to find information on how Dar was modding the Boss GE-7 EQ's.  I have one he modded in 2005 and would like to know what was done beyond stock - heh.

If anyone knows, could they explain it to me?  I see that Dar is still a moderator, but he hasn't been on for almost four years (7/4/2010).  I'll try emailing him anyway.

I'm probably going to be selling it soon (preferably to someone here who'll appreciate it).
Just as I was afraid of...  His email address is no longer valid.   :(
Common upgrade was changing out the op amps and caps for higher quality to get rid of noise/hiss.

Dunno if that's what he did tho...
Yes. The stock pedal hisses constantly.  All electrolytic caps in the signal path can be replaced with film. The opamps can be swapped, there's a 2068 in there and a couple of other noisy chips, I think they are TL022 or something-crap you'd never use in a guitar pedal.  The common mods are well documented and I'd guess Dar did those, no reason to reinvent the pedal.

For reference, you can buy a brand new pedal with all the mods for $145 from Analogman. It's not an expensive piece of gear.
He did the mod for $50 and the pedal cost $97 plus $8 to ship.  I still have it here in the box - never had the occasion to use it!

So I figure I'll pass it along to a fellow BertCaver cheaply if they want one.  The average eBay price for a modded GE-7 is $95 (took that last five completed auctions) and I can certainly beat that if anyone here is interested.
