DM — May 01, 2014I like the font you chose. It looks almost handwritten. :D
I'm assuming the "Si" position is just off, "By Itself". Without the "Mos"clipping. I had to search the "si" translation, there are a few. The High Cut. Is that very audible? I have a OCD that has a HP/LP switch which seems to cut the Hi's a bit, but I don't know if that is a similar component. It's not that great of a cut, though. I think it's described as to use for different pickups
The pedal interests me as do a lot of the ones that you post here. I'm just ignorant to the electronic happenings without hearing, or actually fiddling with it.
Yeah, I could have just labeled it "clip" which is what I did on the one I sold. Si stands for Silicon (clipping with silicon diodes), MOS stands for MOSFET.
The high cut is very effective. It's different from the traditional r/c filter, just a cap across the clipping diodes. In the TubeScreamer this is a fixed value of 51pf. The BluesBreaker/Morning Glory is much much brighter, so the cap across the diodes is a higher value. In the center the switch is off, then I used a 470pf cut in one position, and 820pf in the other. 470 is the stock value and it tames the peaks and shrill high end pretty eefectively. The 820 value rolls off even more. Might be a little too much rollof, I'll go for an in-between value on the next build.
The OCD lo cut is in the output, near right before the tone control. It uses a 33k/.047 for around 100Hz low cut, with the switch in it parallels a 22k resistor for a total of 13.2k/.047, so the low cut moves up tp 256Hz. That could be very subtle but should be a noticeable reduction in lows.
