The Watering Hole

Clips and pics coming. This one was a fast build... Few components, small box, and the only customization I did was to add trimmers to three resistors to allow me to bias the transistors. I used 2n5133 transistors which are fairly low gain, all reports say this pedal sounds best with low gain transistors. It sounds, umm, awesome. More complex and throaty than the big muff, with a nice scoop, but also more musical and singing than I expected from the many reviews I read.  This is a simple build that would be well suited to a first timer and it's something unique you probably don't have.
can't wait to hear it.
Clips???
Inside. You can see that I drilled the jacks a little high... gave myself a little too much space... and I didn't end up adding a battery connector at all, so I could have gone lower.  I may move this to a different enclosure.

Plain-jane exterior... no knobs yet even! This one's going off to my SIL's workshop for painting tonight.

Clip!
Actually this thing does sound pretty nuts.
Through the Tweaker combo, clean, Heil PR40 mic, my go-to homemade strat. I used the middle-bridge/split combo on one side and the bridge humbucker on the other side.

Ok, I thought you had added something to this thread because I typed and submitted a comment right after you did it.... I just not noticed mine didn't post...

Anyway, that is nuts.  I'm assuming you had the gain on the pedal cranked up pretty good.  How does it do "not quite as nuts as that" stuff?

Sorry my post didn't take earlier.  Obviously I'm following this thread with interest.
Yeah, it doesn't really do anything but "insane".  It's a wicked fuzz with some really gooey bottom end, it's got a big-muff-like scooped mid, but more of a knife edge on the distortion, less of that big-muff bloom.

Cool transition from Foxy Lady type intro to a Smashing Pumkins vib.
