Just finished this build, it sounds identical to the Wampler Ecstasy (the circuit is the same), though it's not my favorite distortion pedal it's got a kind of unique sound and a really interesting tone circuit. I made it on stripboard, so the total cost was right around $25, most of which was the case, dpdt switch, footswitch, and jacks.  The board itself cost 90 cents, the circuit parts less than $5.  You can find just about any pedal circuit on the web, and doing them on stripboard saves a lot of money... a manufactured PCB can cost $20+.

Anybody got a pedal they are dying to have?
Man, you're getting good at these!  :)

Just curious, but couldn't you find used and basically thrown out stomps then reuse the case, switches and jacks to save money?  Just add a little custom paint-job (i.e., use one of those automotive paints that cover ANYTHING) - maybe add a self-made sticker - and, viola!

It might be hilarious to take a known POS pedal and put the new wiring in it (even, or especially, if it does something completely different than the stomp says!).  Hehe...  :D
Can you do a Klon?
Can you do a Klon?
Craig, the short answer is maybe.  The longer answer is, you could pretty easily take a case and use the holes that are drilled for pots and the in and out jacks. However, the switch is a different story... the vast majority of used cheap pedals are Boss and their ilk, which use a special buffered stomp that uses a momentary switch to toggle the effect off and on. It uses a bunch of circuitry that basically has to be built in to the circuit. For most pedals it's not practical.

FB, the Klon is pretty much the holy grail of DIY pedal building.  I can definitely build one but I'm not sure what it will sound like, as there are many many different takes on it out there.  Most of the problems with doing a Klon relate to the way that the originals were heavily gooped circuits, and as a result, no one seems to be sure exactly what parts were in them, or how they measured.  However, there are a lot of very good approximations out there, and I'll definitely be tackling one just to see what all the fuss is about.
My two dirt pedals are the Dirty Bomb and a Pork Loin. Pretty happy with them in front of the Tweaker.

$25 for something comparable to a Wampler is amazing.  Nice build Charger.

I've been listening to clips of the Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive.  I like the apparent touch sensitivity / dynamics of that box. $170 - would probably not need it and the Pork Loin. Somewhat of an upgrade from the PL in my opinion.

Really like some of the Wampler Sovereign clips out there too.  $200 - seems a bit high.

Mostly lusting after the EJ tone in a box (Golden Cello) for a 'lead channel' in front of the Tweaker.  Another $200 pedal though so I haven't had enough gas to go try one.

Added those to the list... The Sweet Honey I can do, the Sovereign is not out there yet, Golden Cello looks interesting, I'm guessing it's a gainier 808-based circuit plus a pt2399 -based delay, it's probably having the the delay built in that makes it EJ-ish, I'd guess... The ZenDrive seems to be more EJ-sounding to me in general but doesn't have delay.  It's a GC-Musicians Friend only pedal, I think the Sovereign is too.
Great stuff Charger.  I'm wanting to try a Zen again.  Love to try that Ecstasy to.
p.s.  The Honey Bee and the Dyna Red are both supposed to be KILLER pedals.
