this is kinda hard to deal with in the second half for a lead... at minimum it's a mixing challenge ;)
the first half is kinda fun to jam with, anyways - could just loop part of that.
100 bpm.

Quick jam - it is tricky to mix

nice jam!
sorry about the second part - would probably be more fun if it was just the first part and I used the second part as my take ;)

all I got today - excuses abound but I'll spare you.

nice - I played around with doing harmony guitars on part 1.
Oddly I found it harder to mix a lead in with the 1st part for some reason, couldn't get the lead to stand out, stuck with the first one the levels mixed in best. with the 2nd part the mix seemed ok first take.
Could be to do with mixing against a track that has been already comp/lim pretty loud, i.e. The part2 lead tone was gainy and compressed and punched thru, where the low gain tones don't
Or just one of them moments, will give part 1 another go as it seems odd

Just gave it a second go,
not sure what happened last night - part 1 is easier to mix to and part 2 is harder Gain tones I guess - I was trying to be too clean on part 1 maybe can't say now as all the evidence got the <DEL> :)

nice again - I think part two just isn't conducive to fnj'ing.
kinda hate the one I did, might redo the bt.
fingers#8 · Sep 23, 2010 19:40 UTC
yeah - it's more a done deal than a BT
btw - I kinda hate the ones I did - but I usually do and it's not down to the BT ;)

Here's my feeble effort on this. Went for a clean sound so that it didn't get lost in the track

nice - that stood out well. didn't think cleaner would be the answer but seems like it works.

That's a trick I have learnt from Jimmy Page really. If you listen to practically anything that Jimmy Page has recorded, whether with zep or separate, if the rhythmn guitars are distorted, then the lead is cleanish and if the rhythmn is cleanish then the lead is distorted. They don't compete for the same space that way.

Good BT Sheep - Thx.
I feel like I'm in a big friggen rut in the middle of a big assed plateau...
But fun was had.

tobe - you'll have to find another rut in that plateau... I live there! ;) nice take, fuzz?
lwb - sweet! intro jam riffs were great -- outro was great... take was great :)
akatomcox#15 · Oct 09, 2010 13:24 UTC
Your rut is a few tiers up from mine! ;)
Not a fuzz. I had the Tweaker gain switch set on hot and the gain at around 50% slightly pushed with a Dirty Bomb, gain set just high enough to add sustain.
Nobody else was here so I had it loud enough to get some feedback and also some bleed from the BT.
