I like that backing track, sounds familiar, can't put my finger on it, but very good.
Anyway, here's my go at it.

thanks - didn't try to do anything familiar necessarily... wouldn't surprise me if it was a subconscious cop of something though.
nice jam, liked the rhythm parts - whole thing was very pagey.
Jon_G#5 · May 10, 2011 16:57 UTC
It needs someone to really scream some vocals over the rhythm parts.
Again, I really do like the bass progressions and the drum part on this.
fingers#6 · May 10, 2011 21:05 UTC
Fun Jam and nice takes
I think I have to spend time to get a handle on this - but this is what I got on first impression.

cool take.
track's bringing out the (non-crap) seventies vibe in you guys, good stuff.
fingers#8 · May 10, 2011 23:28 UTC
Thanks - funny about the decades.
I would say that the decades that influence me most are 70's and 90's.
the last decade is too recent to say.
and the 80's .... - it sort of dominates guitar music too much since as a style.

Pats on backs all round so far I think :-)

Only listened in iPhone on it's crappy speaker! But even so I can still tell that vox is both fucking awesome and hilarious. ;D
Jon_G#16 · May 11, 2011 15:36 UTC
The voice is David Lee Roth. I have a vocal only mp3 and I just copied sections from the mp3 into the track and lined it up the best I could...and remarkably it seems to be in the right key too ;D

hmmm, must be an Amercan thing, can't say I've ever heard of that one !
Jon_G#23 · May 12, 2011 16:30 UTC
If you want to fuck around with the vocal track etc yourself I have exported the reaper project as individual tracks all processed with compression, reverb and delay or whatever etc so you can just imported each track into a new reaper project.
iirc, there was BB on there... but it's also possible that it was RC alone or none at all. not sure. hard to tell on flexi takes sometimes.
Kabala#26 · Jun 06, 2011 11:36 UTC
Thanks! The guitar is a little loud/hot in the mix now that I hear it with fresh ears, will be dropping it down some when I get home.
Didn't know you have both of those pedals. So which are you liking more? Or better yet, which in your opinion gives a little squawk in the mids? Or does neither? I'm just tiring of the Fulldrive II - it's "supposed" to give you both, a flat mids boost or a classic/traditional TS type hump, but I don't hear it w/mine regardless of settings. Miss my Maxon 808 for that now, considering picking another up but the Xotic stuff is calling me, especially after hearing your clip.
Oh yeah, what speaker did you mic? thanks again.
ironsheep#27 · Jun 06, 2011 12:00 UTC
I can't really say I like one more than the other, they're both pretty great and stack together well (BB -> RC).
RC is very clean, no eq unless you apply the knobs... BB has a definite mid bump (it's the thickener) and distortion/compression.
I could swear that the BB blends the dry signal with it's distortion, but don't know for certain - sounds like it though.
was in the same boat with the fulldrive - it's really great for a while but I got tired of it's sound on anything other than the neck pickup in a strat.
speakers were T75s in an avatar 2x12. experimenting with that is on my list, but haven't gotten around to it yet - I really want to try a 4x10 (vintage type speakers) and a 4x12 (greenback type speakers) for flexi/vintage/strat stuff but haven't come up with a place to put them, so I've been putting it off.
Kabala#28 · Jun 06, 2011 12:11 UTC
Ok, thanks for the comparison! Pretty sure it'll be the BB for me then. Just when I thought I had no GAS, it brews up, lol.
I would love some greenbacks myself!! Someday...
fingers#29 · Jun 06, 2011 20:02 UTC
yep - great take schills
You and sheeps's talk got me curious on the BB
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiW22O914Cg
can hear a very similar cool vibe to the sound in sheep's take in the middle section of the jam.
I could swear that the BB blends the dry signal with it's distortion, but don't know for certain - sounds like it though.
Thought the same listening to it in the vid
Kabala#30 · Jun 06, 2011 23:27 UTC
Thanks man!
I've watched that Timmons video a hundred times. Tone to die for. Am I crazy or is there a Line6 Pod XT unit in his rack back there?
I've also watched this Greg Howe BB clip way too many times as well. His playing kills me. His recorded tone is hit or miss though, some tracks on his latest album are incred, some not so much, but I'm sure he's using the BB often on it.
I'm sold on the box. After a quick search in my area, turns out a little dive music store I never new about is an Xotic dealer...called them on a whim, guy told me they have three new boxed BB's in stock. I asked him to put my name on one since I might not have a chance to get his way til next week - the dude laughed and told me not to worry, he's had those three in stock for over a year, lol.
fingers#31 · Jun 07, 2011 21:27 UTC
Greg Howe - very different demo - raw in the shop improv vibe and pedal sounds great again.
Imagine that pedal will suit your playing very well. ;)
Sounds great in that transition between clean to gain tones. without being bluesy break up sounding - definitely has a sound like it is blending the signals.
cool stuff.
Kabala#32 · Jun 08, 2011 23:15 UTC
I like both demos of the pedal (and there's tons of other great samples on YT). It should add some grease to my fairly tight/dry amp where my FD II has fallen short, because though it is transparent (or it can add some hair as I did in Sheeps Jam), it just doesn't help in the "mojo" dept, especially the mids, I think the BB will, and hell, it comes with a first hand user nod from ironsheep, pretty sure he's steered several of us to some good gear purchases along the way...
Can't wait to pick the pedal up...I don't even want to touch my gear now until I have it, lol. Gotta wait until next week but it should be one of those rare 'several new toys in one day' deals we all love. Picking up the BB Preamp and a Celestion G12M-25 Greenback (just one - I have a 4x12 Franken cab I use soley for close mic'ing single speakers).
I can't help but always glance down at the comments when watching YT clips, always at least one gold remark, like the top Timmons post, "I'd sell crack to five year olds for enough money to get that amp." ;D
Sheep, this jam is the only other clip I have of a new guitar, wondering if I could upload it to my RevebNation page or even on other small boards, making sure it's known I didn't create the groovy BT, just the wanking on top?
ironsheep#33 · Jun 08, 2011 23:28 UTC
feel free to do whatever you want with it - no need for attribution or anything. I spent like 15 minutes putting it together... heh.
