jobs lost in November.

That seems like a lot. Frankly, I am not quite sure what to make of it.  But that seems like a crapload.

Spread out among 120 million people.....it's well under 1%.  it's around .004%

So far it ain't effecting us, I sure feel for those who live week to week and lost their jobs tho.

It is huge in one month.

I'm also willing to bet that those numbers do not include the self-employed.  Since my client's client's client (a government entity) abruptly stopped funding our project two weeks ago, I'm one of those back to being unemployed...  This number now includes the friend that helped me find work.

It couldn't have come at a worse time for me since I was still in negotiations to save my Mom's house so that was put up for sale today and we have only one month to try and get a buyer.  If I find a buyer I "only" lose about $30-40k, if I don't they take the house and I lose $60k.  In either case I will now have my 79 year-old mother living with me with a lot less money to support her (plus the stairs at my house are a killer).

Yup whoops....cut me some slack I was figuring in my head in between classes.....not bad for a Kentucky boy! HAHAHAHA

AT any rate.....if we spread it out evenly among the states....that's 10,660 jobs lost in a month per state.

I think we have like 120 counties in my state......so that's like 88 jobs per county.

My county has a population of over 50,000.....so we really ain't feeling this yet.

But if you lived in some butt fuck little county.....88 jobs could be the whole fucking county out of a job.

Yeah, and if you were the only one living in a county then you would personally lose a shit load of jobs and it would hit really hard
But having 88 jobs on the go was too much anyway, it was time for some well earned rest :)

what drives me nuts about that number is that it doesn't include those that are already unemployed.   Almost like they try to hide the real numbers by just focusing on the rate at which people are losing jobs...

Well they do say on the news there are 10 million unemployed at this point. It usually hangs at around 5 million all of the time so there is an extra 5 million during these hard times.

It also doesn't really give an indication of the quality of jobs being lost.
Losing 500,000 low paid burger flipping jobs is not the same as losing 500,000 professional/skilled jobs

It also does not include those who are continuing to be employed but where their employers have cut their hours.  I have several friends (with decent jobs) that have either been told to work a smaller number of hours or, in one case, to take a mandatory unpaid week off each month.

Yeah sure it is, because it still means that each person is out of work, any reasonable person lives according to his means, so what difference does it make in overall jobless numbers how much a person makes. There are still 500,000 people on the dole, and here in America that lasts 26 weeks, with a 13 week extension. This is a big problem for those out of work regardless of what their pay scale is.

That's only if they qualify for unemployment Harv.  An employer also actually has the ability to deny it.  Unemployment is an insurance policy that the employers pay into.  Of course, self-employed people can't get it...

Sure they can if they pay into it. It is the same as social security employer pays half and the employee pays half. But you have to sign up for it and pay the full amount. At least they can in the state I have collected in and was self employed in.

Much bigger losses in taxes and spending in the economy if 500,000 100k jobs are lost than if 500,000 20k jobs are lost.

That is an astounding amount.  Plus they adjusted Octobers figure up 150 million.  So almost 1 million people lost their jobs in two months.  Scary.  I am afraid that I may be in next months stats.

Yeah it is good right now until 2042, and by 2030 I bet they put a whole lot of resources into fixing it past 2042.  Believe me I keep up on this issue. I got a 5.8% raise in 2009. I was a construction worker and I always made deals with my bosses to pay me under the table or cash for piece work. (I could lay a lot of brick or stone and all of it was sellable) I always endeavored to make my bosses money so they always treated me very well. Consequently I only get $582 a month plus my Medicare payment of $96.40 which is 678 or so a month. But I still work for two mason contractors estimating masonry in my shed. I get about $600 a week for 20 hours. I can do this for many more years. It is easy (once you know how). If I would have played the game straight with unk sug I could be getting two grand a month.
