I've been working with a client for the past year trying to tempt them away from their existing document management system to migrate all of their documents into my web hosted system....I was beginning to think this one was a dead duck, but had a phone call today and it's a go ! Which is very nice as this one has brought me nothing so far in the year that I have been dealilng with them, but as from December this one contract is worth $1,000 a month ongoing to me with virtually no cost. Excellent :) (smug bastard)

Thanks. I know you can appreciate this as we are in the same boat. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of effort that one has to put into any project when you have your own business. You spend hundreds of hours working on stuff for free in the hope that it will convert to business. The funny thing is that when it does finally convert to business you immediately forget about all the effort that went before. It's hard work doing it for yourself but so much more satisfying and ultimately financially rewarding too.
A grand a month is a very nice addition to your income. Nice....

The funny thing is, when I worked for someone else I used to spend money like there was no tomorrow because I knew there would always be another paycheck at the end of the month. Since I've been working for myself, even though I'm earning more now than before I am much more careful with my spending. It certainly makes one appreciate money more because there is always that doubt in one's mind that next month might not be so good. Having said, that, some guitar toys are definitely on the horizon :-)
