Like I always thought, American Idols didn't need Simon Cowell, he needed American Idols.

I always thought Simon was a zero talented dick, and without simple Simon this American Idols is the best ever, IMO.

We have watched some of it.  It is certainly a kinder, gentler Idol.  Randy is (was) being more like Simon it seemed.  The producers are cutting the edits to show more talent, and less awful, it seemed to us. I really like Steven Tyler (from what little I know) - but not so much on this show and in this role.  He would not draw me into the show, neither does Jennifer really.  This is probably why we are not watching it much anymore.  I think these 3 have better ears, meaning I like the people they like more often, but who cares what I think.   So for us there are some plus side elements and minus side.  I guess the minus side has been winning though as we have quite watching since the cut to 25.
I never watch it much.
Amy and Daphne used to be devout watchers, never missed an episode.  Daphne started to get turned off by what she felt was the best singer ALMOST never winning.  They now don't watch more than 1-2 shows per year.

I never did watch except when they'd call me in to watch something really funny, or someone really good.  I remember in particular one time 3-4 years ago, when a particular lady was CLEARLY the class of the field and didn't even come close to winning.  That kind of turned me off to it even more.

Carrie Underwood is hot though.   ;D
I'm not sure I am feeling this crop of singers yet.  I do like the chemistry between the judges.  But man, they let through some singers in the first few shows that were just obviously not all that good.

Crystal Bowersox last year was one of the best I've ever seen on American Idol... for her to get beaten by a dude who, the best you could say about him was that over time he improved?  Super weak.  That guy never looked comfortable behind a mic, and never sang on key.  At least the guy who beat Lambert had chops and sang on tune...

Anyway, I sometimes wonder if a show like AmId can only find one or two really great singers, and that for the most part, all the great ones are still getting discovered?  Who's been anything special since Kelly Clarkson?  Maybe Jennifer Hudson?  She came in like 9th.  Certainly not that country chick Underwood.  She sold the second most Idol albums, but her range is miniscule, if she's got two octaves I would be surprised, and her voice is grating... she's the proof that you really don't need much talent to sing POP country successfully.
The last person or group I really liked that won any of these shows was Sawyer Brown from Star Search.
I watched 20 minutes of one of these shows once. I decided that a 6" punched through the end of my dick would be less painful. (although I did not do it to test the theory)
I never watch it.
