I'll be heading to Berry College at 6am tomorrow, racing in my first half marathon. If I don't show back up here again, its nothing personal, just means I didn't make it and I'll see you all on the other side.  :)

Peace
Good luck man!  Don't pull a Kev.

I'll likely be a bit too far south to run into you on the other side.  I better learn how to tune a Banjo...

Thanks, Tobe! I survived. Hardest fuckin' thing I've ever done. I think I like the guitar playing hobby much more, lol. Was around 30 degree's and 15-20 mph winds at the start (8am), thats really what sucked - I've run this distance many times, but always after work in much warmer conditions. The other drawback of an early March race: no skimpy running attire on the women. Spandex just does not look the same creaping up as shorts. ;-)

Anyway, that was an experience, glad I did it, the snappy t-shirt and grub post race made it worth while (yeah riiiiight).  ;D

you're an animal.  I always hated distance running.  I used to do it just for conditioning but never liked it.  I played basketball last week for the first time in almost two years.  I felt SO good afterwards.  Tired, but GOOD!
That's cos you ain't an athlete like Kev.
;D ;D ;D ;D

Its nothing, just have to maintain the fitness level once you reach a point. Getting there is the challenge of course, thats where so many "hate it" and give up, but honestly, once there, heh, nuthin' to it, simple weekly maintenance keeps the conditioning high. I came in 80th out of 5,000+ and this was my first one of these, lol. Easy.

I've never been a basketball player, friggin' basket needs to be wider AND LOWER!  :P

Basketball is a sport reserved for males who are too tall to be trashmen.  ;)

That's the nicest thing you've ever said too me.   ;D

Schils, I know what you're saying, but that's not where the hate comes in.  When I was playing ball all the time we'd go run 5Ks and stuff that we didn't even train for.  (Mainly for the parties afterwards). I was not an experienced racer and didn't know how to pace myself or whatever because I only did it a couple times a year. I'd find one of my friends who was a distance runner and I'd just run with the pack.  LOL  One day at a big July 4th bash, we ran the 5K at 8:00 A.M. then started at 11:00 in the 3 on 3 basketball tournament  playing outside on blacktop and it was over 90 by noon.  We played about 10 games.     It's not a matter of hating the discipline or work to get in that shape.  I WAS in that shape.  Just found distance running to be not my thing.    I was just never into distance running for conditioning or racing.  I'd rather work out or play bball, or baseball or football or tennis.
I ride my bicycle 4 to 5 miles every single day. My knees will not stand up to running. So it is bicycling from now on. You young folk can do the running, and let me know how you did.
I jump to conclusions often and run around in circles daily.  Just part of my exercise regiment.  ;)
I bet Stratman is in good shape after chasing all those animals around his back yard. Then having to swim out in the lake to retrieve it's dead body. ;D

Age is just a number, dbm. I shoulda mentioned this earlier, was the highlight of that mornings runs actually. There was also a 5k race and a 92 year old man (wasn't Kev  ;D) walked the entire course, unassisted, and in a respectable time no less! He received the loudest ovation at the awards hand out. A cool moment.

yeah, couldn't have been Kev because nobody cheers like that for someone who craps themself during the race and seems to enjoy it.   ;D
