I just ordered one of these.  Does anyone have one or know anything about them.  My nephew has it and it looked pretty cool.

They look cool.  Upside on Blackberrys is their battery life.  I had a Curve (non-3G) and the battery life was unreal.  Don't know how they are on 3G (the 3G hardware uses greater juice).  

Ultimately I just ditched my Curve it for the new iPhone 3GS 32GB.  It is very cool.  

Can't say....I'm an iPhone man 100%.  never thought I'd own such a fancy contraption.....but I love the little fucker.  I can LOAD that motherfucker up with and listen all day on one battery.

I'll put it this way....it takes about 7 hours to get from my place to Jamie's place.  The entire rid eup I was jamming to the ipod and when I wasn't it was because I was talking on the phone.  So the damn thing was on for 7 hours straight.....when I got there I had over half a battery left.  I was THRILLED!

Plus the motherfucker charges REALLY fast.  I love that.  It's the coolest technodudad I ever had .....for sure.

The iPhone is really king of the hill right now.  The knock I've heard on the Storm is that committed Blackberry users really don't like them as much as other Blackberry models--the touch screen isn't as up to snuff as everyone was hoping and the onscreen keyboard ends up being pretty hard to use (no particular knock on BB Storm, the iPhone keyboard is a bitch too).  I like the way Blackberry handles email... it is definitely king of the hill.  But I have been way more impressed with the iPhone than I expected to be.

Since I work for Verizon, I finally have 2 cents to add to a thread ;)  The non-3G Curve is ok ( I believe AT&T now offers this one).  The 3G Curve rocks. Been using one for about 2 months and really like it.

But if I had my preference, I'd go with a Blackberry Bold. New software interface, it is killer.

The Storm is rather issuematic with the touch screen. My boss hates hers. Stay away from it. And the Pearl...it sucks.

Iphones have 2 issues that bug me. One...you cannot change the battery. Two....you cannot get insurance on them. But as far as features and usability, they rock. Just keep a $ stash on hand in case you break or lose yours....

As somebody who sells these devices, and sees everyday what handsets come back with issues....my advice is to go to a 3G Curve for it's reliability,  or a Bold because I really like the new software interface (we don't sell them, so I am unsure of the reliability).

Plus you can download stupid amounts of apps from either blackberry.com or crackberry.com. Yeah...Blackberry has an app for that too ;)

LOL, I have a pearl and love it.  What sucks about these?  I have always preferred small phones (used to pay way more for Star Tacs, etc) and I wanted one that was small.  It is, and it does everything I want.  I love the thing.  

My PDA is more old-school.  I don't need most of those newer features anyway.  Just turn it upside-down and shake it once in a while and it will last forever!  :D

Actually iPhones do offer Applecare extended warranty that offers coverage for 2 years.  It's extra, but covers battery, touch screen, everything.  

I do like the fact that with the iPhone you can log onto local wifi, which is faster than 3G.  That is extremely cool.  I wish iPhone battery had life like the Blackberry batteries.  The batteries in Blackberries are awesome.  

I thought about a Blackberry this new phone cycle. But after all the deliberation, all I got was the simplest little flip phone they had. Upside the battery life when not talking much is weeks, and almost a week under normal use for me. Downside there is no memory card in it, so I can't access my photo's easy unless I buy the USB wire.

Got an iphone 3GS today. Playing with it now. Me likes.

Iphones have extended warranty, yes. But if you break it, lose it, get it wet, or have it stolen...you are fucked. No insurance.

Howie...it's good your Pearl is working smoothly. 2 out of 5 don't. They make up my largest base of pissed off customers. Seriously.

After one full day of use.  Not too impressed.  It hangs a lot, and if its hangin while im trying to make a call or are getting a call im screwed and I get f'ing pissed.  It gave me some odd error messages yesterday as well.  I'll give it another day or two, but I think its going back.

nothing wrong with mine at all.  I've had to do a couple "resets" (take the battery out) but that was it.  I love the thing.  

I've got a Nokia that rocks. It makes and receives calls damn well. Uhhhh, that's all it does. ;D ;D ;D

I have an Iphone. I bought it mostly for email on the move and it is brilliant.

Out of interest, what do you pay for your iphone contracts in the USA?

Here in UK I am paying £35 per month (approx $51) and for that I get
600 minutes of phone time included per month
500 texts included per month
unlimited web browser and email (or any on-line time) included

how does that compare to you guys?

That is cheap.  Europe is way cheaper on cell phone service in general though.  The US currently charges way more for cell service, as we do for medical service, etc.  I pay $90 a month for our cell service, shard between two phones--1400 minutes--plus $5 per phone for texts, plus $30 per phone for the iPhone data plan.  So total is $160, $80 per phone.  We've considered dropping down to 700 shared minutes, which would save us $30, but when you go over your minutes AT&T charges something like .40 a minute... ridiculously expensive.

That is expensive, but on the other hand of course houses are much cheaper in the states than they are over here so overall you probably have more disposable income than we do.  And petrol of course, much cheaper for you than us, so it is actually a bit odd why phone service should be more expensive for you than us.

It would be interesting to do an analysis of prices of goods both here and in the states, everyday goods like food etc.

Most things in the US are cheaper than the UK.

Couple of resets and some useless apps deletion and I'm very happy now.

I asked around after what Johnny said the other day.  3 people in my office, and 3 other people that I know all have Blackberry Pearls.  I've asked all of them in the last few days, and all of them loved their phone and had NO problems.  2 remarked that they'd had to do a couple resets, but that's a 2 minute process and no big deal, and one of those two got his Pearl when they first came out so he's had it a while now.  

I guess we're lucky.  But if I did start having trouble, I'd use that as ammo for trading to a Curve.   ;)

Cell phone- never had one and hopefully never will.  I have a pager supplied by my employer, still use a 900 Mhz cordless landline at home, and dialup internet.  And that is still too much communicative access for me.

I understand that people need to interact with each other, especially for emergencies, business, etc. but from what I have personally experienced, most of the cell phone use is pretty much play time.

At work I have had to implement strict cell phone use policies just to keep the bastards working.  They can bring a cell phone inside the building (at one time I had to make a shift keep theirs in their vehicles because it got so out of hand) but they have to go outside when they receive or make a call.  I really don't want to listen to a one sided conversation about how blue the sky is.

And lets not overlook how ridiculous some people look and sound in public places when they use cell phones.  Or how dangerous these users are when driving a vehicle or doing some other task that needs attention to what they are doing.

Cell phones are marvelous inventions with some appealing applications and do have there place and time.  But many people are too obnoxious and I find them extremely annoying.  Not that any of you good folk fall into that category so please don't take any of this personal.
