Yep.  Buy a filter and some stainless steel bottles... way better for you and the earth in the long run.
And 80 plus % isn't recycled. Maybe America needs to take a look at this. Duh. Just imagine all others produts that use oil. It could be a huge, huge, figure. Maybe cars aren't the only solution to the oil problem.

That is 17 million barrels of oil after they extract the gasoline from it I bet,

I have a 5 stage reverse osmosis system to eliminate the need for bottled water, although every time I take a road trip I buy a case of 12 or 16oz bottles for the road. Even though I take several gallons of filtered water as well, you never have enough water on a road trip.
or enough pitstops.   :)
I have a buddy of mine that is the CEO of a startup that has technology that

takes plastic and turns it into oil and sells it on the open market...

pretty cool, but captial intensive

Sure Howie, every time I stop for gas I let off some liquids as well.

Charger has the right idea, a filter + water from your tap is actually better for ya then store bought "purified, drinking, mountain stream, filtered, blah blah, etc" water -- they usually remove the minerals and good stuff (along with the harmful) that your house tap doesn't/can't, so I've read anyway. I have a couple bottles that I rotate. Fill 'em from my tap, chill 'em in the fridge and I'm good to go.
Brita filter rocks the house!!!  It's the only way to go and frankly tastes lots better than the bottled crap!!

OT, but anyone else a fan of G2? Getting hooked on it over here! 25 cal per serv and it actually tastes better than traditional Gatorade, go figure. Little Pricey but I don't mind, beats my horrible Mt. Dew addiction by miles.
I prefer G3 myself.   ;)
In my little city we have three very good wells so the tap water tastes wonderful to me already.  No filters required! :)

Just don't leave your bottles in the sun to long. According to some studies, bad chemicals are released from the plastic bottle after X amount exposure to heat. ;D No shit. :)
My water taste good also, tap. My wife will only drink bottled water. >:( Such a waste of money.
Just another thing I DON'T miss about living in So. Cal.  The water was so fucking awful you had to drink bottled water...
tap - I thought Americans said fawcet.

much like we say valve and you say tube,

though I use both valve and tube now - I think both are cool.
