The Watering Hole

I have been with my broadband provider for 10 years now.  It has always been a good service except for this year and in particular the last  2 months where the download speed was a pitiful 192kbs and the upload 300kbs. This really causes me a problem as I run my own web server from home where I host clients databases etc. A really crap service and getting worse everyday and they keep telling me there is nothing wrong with it that all services are working fine.  I tried a new router to prove the point and I was right, that made no difference. The help desk has been really appaling. By the way, this is www.plus.net

However, 2 weeks ago I applied for my MAC code so I could move to a new provider.  I signed up with o2. They gave me a connection activation date of 23rd Dec, and yesterday it went live as planned.  Nice and smooth.

My broadband is now much better than it has ever been. I am now enjoying a download speed of 7000kbs and an upload speed of 1500kbs.....and this costs me £5 per month LESS than I was paying with plusnet.
That's really cool, Jon. Sometimes it's just time to move on to a new provider. I can't believe you were getting such horrible rates with the old one. But now you have good ones, so yay!

Cool news, and an early Christmas present.
I was totally shocked when I moved to cable from DSL... I always get a minimum of 10000kbps down and 3000 up.  If it tests lower than that, I reboot my router.
I wish our upload was faster (they're still somewhat limited at 512k upload).  Our download speeds are good:  cheapest cable package is 10Mb with 15 & 20 being the tiers above it.
