Last Saturday,7th Feb, we experienced the worst bushfires in our history.At this point we have lost 181 lives with the toll expected to top 300, over 1800 homes gone and nearly 1 million acres of land burnt out. Whole towns have been erased from the map and still the fires are burning. All in the space of a couple of hours on Saturday evening. I'm lucky, I live close in to the city but everyone knows someone touched by this tragedy. Over 7000 people have nothing except the clothes on their backs. On a positive note the people of Australia have raised over $A80 million dollars in donations in just the last couple of days. It's good to see the national spirit rise up to help our mates in their hour of need

I feel for ya! Having been through similar down in Southern California too many times I know what it's like and it's pretty horrifying. :(

We feel bad for you folks down under who have to live through such a horrific disaster. I hate to see this kind of thing happen to the good folks of Oz. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for the survivors and those who lost homes and family.
