Anyone been checking out the special on cnn, I think it's called High Times? Pretty interesting.

I do wish they would do a special on what is known now about Pot, scientifically, so all these paranoid pot haters would see that very little harm, that we know of, can be done. Hell, most prescription medicines have worse side effects than a person that smoked a quarter of pot at one sitting.  ;D
I remember this from before any state made weed legal.

Dangerous.  ;D ;D

Warning.... Pot may make one's serious problems seem easily managed, tomorrow or something......

Warning.... Pot could actually make marriage work by making the things that piss you off about your wife, suddenly cause excessive stomach hurting laughter. ....

Bong Bong Bong Bong doo be doobie Wasn't that a song called Come Go With Me by the Dell Vikings in the 1950's? Well maybe not exactly the lyrics but I sing it to the wifey when we want to Bong Bong Bong Bong doo be doobie, she never refuses my invite unless she has an early day at work.  ;D But we vape not bong.......
What kind of vaporizor do you use?

It works well.
My experience with the vape was pretty weird.  I wanted to like it, and it definitely prevented some coughing.  But I found the high was very different.  It took a looong time to hit-- almost an hour.  By that time I had taken a couple too many hits because it wasn't "working."  I found the high to be very mental, very cerebral, not as light and fun as I usually like.  Also, this was the same pot I had smoked other times (we grew it...).  I think the fact that you immediately know when you've gotten a hit from the traditional method of smoking it is part of it for me.  I am also a very infrequent user... once every month at the most.
There is a definite difference between vaping and burning the weed. I agree with Charger on most of his observations. For me it takes away that jittery stomach I always got when I burned it. Even when I smoked it all day every day during the 60's hippy daze & on up until 1989 when I quit regular use I got the jitters initially for a few moments kinda like the "acid stomach" I used to get when tripping. It is more cerebral, more visionary when vaping from my experience. Coupled with my inner silence practices (meditation) It gives me insights into stuff I see or hear that pass me by when I am in my normal self. I do not imbibe regularly, some times not for a month, and then every weekend for a few, then not again for a few weeks, depending on the mood of the place and time. Plus it is a very calm experience compared to burning or ingesting it.

Bottom line it puts less poisons into the lungs and body when vaping. If it is good enough for Willy Nelson, it is good enough for me. I never even thought about vaping until I saw a show on Larry King Live, and Willy talked about the advantages of vaping.
I've purchased 2 $250 vaporizers. I, like Charger, tried  to like it. It's not awful, but I prefer the old methods. To me, rolling a joint with better than med grade weed is the best of the best. I take low quality and roll blunts, i like cigars so this makes for a pretty good taste to me.

I don't see a need to vape, really. It has a sort of plastic taste. And it's a pain in the ass to have to wait for the vaporizer to heat up and cleaning filters and shit. Fuck it, just pack a bowl and enjoy.

Since I started smoking, I've noticed a huge change with my health. I've always worried about little shit way to much and real problems, like my divorce, cause long periods of upset stomach, nausia, etc. Since starting smoking, the stomach problems have literally damn near disappeared. Seriously. It's made me decided that I may have some sort of anxiety problem. It also makes me think I'm on the correct medication for it.

I smoke every night. Weekends more. For about 2 years now. I got over this divorce very differently than the last one.  ;D

Pot made me be able to get over the bad shit really, really, well. I made decisions and did what I decided to do. And moved on. I started really enjoying a Saturday, alone the whole day. I got to know myself. Realized some repeated mistakes I've made, spent lots of time thinking about various things from serious to plain stupid with very little emotional glaze, besides laughter. It's also made me want to move back to the country and get out of the city. Get as laid back and stress free as possible. Work hard, play hard, and rest hard!

Sorry, little rambling there. 8-)
I have this one.

I prefer the vape to burn. My lungs just can't handle the burned weed. Too much coughing and hacking, plus I live in a retirement community and I see all kinds of people dragging around oxygen bottles. I would rather forgo that experience, and I think the vaping helps put that day off maybe for the rest of my life. I really do not imbibe all that much, but once in a while it is good for my well being.

But different strokes for different folks, y'all is full grown and able to make your own decisions. Have at it amigo, no way will I make a negative judgement on it.......
I really doubt that pot alone could cause enough damage to make you have problems enough to carry around a oxygen bottle my brotha.

About the coughing and stuff, if you have a good vaporizer with good air flow, it can do the same thing. Large amounts of smoke, or vape, is the cause. I see people taking these huge long hits and chocking and coughing and wonder why the fuck are they doing that. Just take smaller hits and more of them. I seldom ever cough. I sit back, relax and enjoy. I'm in no rush. I don't need to toke to the degree I cough my damn head off.

I tried the wax one time and it was strange. It was out of some kind of bong thing. Very clean tasting, imo. Almost didn't taste like weed. I smoke often, but not a lot of quantity. A quarter will last me months. Like about 4 to six months.

The vape method is a different high for sure, at least for me. I'm with Charger, I like the traditional methods.
It is better to be informed of the dangers than be ignorant of it, there are plenty of websites out there scientifically aware of the dangers of inhaling burn smoke on the lungs, proceed at your own risk then if the things below befall you, you know who to blame.

From the American Lung association website,

How marijuana affects health is determined by how it's consumed. Marijuana is most commonly smoked, such as from pipes, bongs, paper-wrapped joints, blunts and other items including devices that heat or vaporize marijuana. It can also be consumed through foods and beverages, such as brownies or tea.

While this statement focuses on marijuana and lung health, it's important to note that there are other health concerns outside the lungs attributed to marijuana use that are not addressed here, including neurological and cognitive effects.

Additionally, there are significant public health concerns associated with pediatric poisonings caused by accidental ingestion of edible marijuana products.

Marijuana Smoke

Smoke is harmful to lung health. Whether from burning wood, tobacco or marijuana, toxins and carcinogens are released from the combustion of materials. Smoke from marijuana combustion has been shown to contain many of the same toxins, irritants and carcinogens as tobacco smoke.4-7

Beyond just what's in the smoke alone, marijuana is typically smoked differently than tobacco. Marijuana smokers tend to inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer than cigarette smokers, which leads to a greater exposure per breath to tar.

Secondhand marijuana smoke contains many of the same toxins and carcinogens found in directly inhaled marijuana smoke, in similar amounts if not more.5 While there is no data on the health consequences of breathing secondhand marijuana smoke, there is concern that it could cause harmful health effects, especially among vulnerable children in the home. Additional research on the health effects of secondhand marijuana smoke is needed.

Lung Health and Marijuana Smoke

Smoking marijuana clearly damages the human lung. Research shows that smoking marijuana causes chronic bronchitis and marijuana smoke has been shown to injure the cell linings of the large airways, which could explain why smoking marijuana leads to symptoms such as chronic cough, phlegm production, wheeze and acute bronchitis.4,9

Smoking marijuana has also been linked to cases of air pockets in between both lungs and between the lungs and the chest wall, as well as large air bubbles in the lungs among young to middle-aged adults, mostly heavy smokers of marijuana. However, it's not possible to establish whether these occur more frequently among marijuana smokers than the general population.

Smoking marijuana can harm more than just the lungs and respiratory system - it can also affect the immune system and the body's ability to fight disease, especially for those whose immune systems are already weakened from immunosuppressive drugs or diseases, such as HIV infection.

Smoking marijuana hurts the lungs' first line of defense against infection by killing cells that help remove dust and germs as well as causing more mucus to be formed. In addition, it also suppresses the immune system. These effects could lead to an increased risk of lower respiratory tract infections among marijuana smokers, although there is no clear evidence of such actual infections being more common among marijuana smokers. However, frequent marijuana-only smokers have more healthcare visits for respiratory conditions compared to nonsmokers.

Studies have shown that smoking marijuana may increase the risk of opportunistic infections among those who are HIV positive, although it does not seem to effect the development of AIDS or lower white cell counts.

Another potential threat to those with weakened immune systems is Aspergillus, a mold that can cause lung disorders. It can grow on marijuana, which if then smoked exposes the lungs to this fungus.4 However, it rarely causes problems in people with healthy immune systems.

Medical Marijuana

The American Lung Association encourages continued research into the health effects of marijuana use, as the benefits, risks and safety of marijuana use for medical purposes require further study. Patients considering using marijuana for medicinal purposes should make this decision in consultation with their doctor, and consider means of administration other than smoking.
Bottom Line

Smoking marijuana clearly damages the human lung, and regular use leads to chronic bronchitis and can cause an immune-compromised person to be more susceptible to lung infections. No one should be exposed to secondhand marijuana smoke. Due to the risks it poses to lung health, the American Lung Association strongly cautions the public against smoking marijuana as well as tobacco products. More research is needed into the effects of marijuana on health, especially lung health.
Without looking, and I'm not gonna look cause it's so clear to see, you got that from a anti pot site of some kind or some government site that thinks your brain is frying like a egg while your smoking pot and that can lead to other dangers, like coke.... say it ain't so.

The fact is, I've not found 1 death caused by smoking pot alone. No cancer. Not one person has obtained cancers attention, none.

Dude, quit sounding the false alarm. Your crying wolf. Like yelling gun in a theater.

I met a guy in Jamaica that wore rags for clothes, lived in a tin shed.... his story was he smoked pot from the time he was around 10 to the age 57. Never one bad experience. Dude didn't know what multiplication meant. Yet, he spoke 2 languages and supported his family to the best of his ability.

I'm amazed by what it's done for my stomach issues..... and that can be backed up and supported by science. Science doesn't have a side, only a result. That article seems to have decided on a result, then given false and half truths results worded in a way that seems like pot came from..... the Devil. :o

Please don't think your informed by reading that stuff.
It really don't matter to me what you do with your lungs, I don't really know you, and I won't be around long enough to see the resolution of your actions. So I am done with this debate.
That's cool.

You may want to think about vaping the air you breath the next time you go outdoors.  ;D

I'm not saying it's harmless. But, for me anyway, it certainly is way, way, less damaging than smoking a pack of cigs a day.
