Not on your life! arggggggggggghhhhhhhh  :-?
ok, it's your cold!   ;)
Colds are annoying things.  If you get lots of rest, drink lots of liquids and take lots of meds than you can beat them in seven days.  Left untreated they'll last a week!  ;)
I will tell anyone willing to listen, that saltwater will stop most colds in a couple days, and if taken when you first start to feel it coming on will in many cases keep you from getting the cold.

I can tell you exactly how I do it ( a very refined version of what my doctor told me to do) or, you can feel bad, take medicine which makes you feel worse, and have your cold for the normal duration.  Your choice.   ;)

I ain't puttin' anything up my nose that don't belong there  ;D

Also, a cold is a virus, so salt water is not going to cure it for sure!
well, your FINGER don't belong there.  Nose hits out of the gas-mask bong don't belong there!   ;)

But Nasal Saline with some salt added....    :)
Actually, I don't even use THAT anymore.  I tried something for allergies and now I just use it in a nasal saline bottle.  It's called Sinuclense or something like that.  Works great for allergies AND a cold.  And, it BELONGS in your nose!  Cause the name says so!   ;D

This stuff is the freakin' BOMB for nasal congestion!!!  I don't know if it's available across the pond.  If it is, GET IT!!!  You'll be able to breath through your nose in 5-10 minutes. 8-)
Warnings
Ask a doctor before use if you have
heart disease
high blood pressure
thyroid disease
diabetes
trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland

That rules me out...I'm diabetic !
salt water has no medicine, no side effects, no "you can't take this with that" or "you can't take this if you have that" warnings....
Burns like shit going through your nose though...

I ain't putting shit up my nose either  ;D
I find this response interesting.  Having had allergies for years, various forms of nasal medication have been something I've dealt with for years.  Not sure what your issue with nasal medication might be, but that's cool.  But this isn't even medicine.

I've already said I've been doing it for 10 years and that it was recommended by my doctor, whose family has been doing it for years and are doctors, pharmacists etc.  So, just trying to help.  If you choose to ignore, your alternatives are real medicine that WILL NOT cure your cold, only treat the symptoms and make you feel squirrely, or nothing.

Actually, there is one other medicine that I use that IS PROVEN to reduce the length and severity of a cold and it is widely advertised (advertised as the ONLY thing ever that's medically proven to reduce length and severity of a cold) to do so.  However, it is also taken nasally, so I guess there's no reason to recommend it either.

Well, as I said before, my issue with putting medication up my nose is that I am diabetic, and you only have the read the label and it says not to use it if you are diabetic, so that is a well grounded issue in my book.

Again, there is no cure for a cold as it is a virus, so no amount of salt water is going to cure it....pure hogwash really. But if it makes you feel good then fine, go ahead and use it.  I didn't expect this thread to turn into a "let's push it up his nose" affair....how strange.

Anyway, it's all academic now as my cold has passed and all without doing anything....that says something about remedies doesn't it !
Maybe you just have never heard of the Secret Squirrel cure that only Howie knows about?  ;) :D

LOL.  I suggested a medication free way to help your cold.  This is not patented.  I am not pushing sales of my product.   ;)

Craig, I have a secret squirrel trick for you as well. Take the salt, without the water, and rub it on your nuts before you store up for winter.  Helps preserve those nuts that don't get used very often.   ;D

Fortunately, I'm not married and don't have that problem.  ;)
