The Watering Hole

Hi all.

I just made my frist major sale on ebay.... my personal collection of rare Queen cd's.   I got $500 for them from a collector in France.  (No not Tigerbill.... the deaf bastartd had no appreciation of Brian's guitar playing even when he could hear.....)

She's paid via Paypal; and I have made my first withdrawal into my bank account; and it's saying 8 working days to see the $$$$$$


Am I right to post the Cd's tomorrow even thougfh the money hasn't hit my account yet????

(P.S. I'm putting it towards a Gretsch Electromatic (the orange one) and putting TV Jones pickups in it....)

If someone could respond tonight I'd appreciate it; cause I want to post this stuff tomorrow....

For a purchase that large, the buyer will certainly be fine with waiting until the money clears PayPal.  Just apprise him/her of the situation.  PayPal always takes a long time to clear... it's a pain in the ass.

I agree with Charger on this, send the CD's when you have the money in your hands/account. I personally would remove it from an account set up just for pay pal whith very little money in it. I would yank the bread out and then send the CD's.

I always stipulate thta I will not send a damn thing until money hits my account.....then I send it that day.  Never had an issue with it.

So it's rude to just that...?   I just want to et rid of them now that they're sold.

BTW Everything is (obviously) in my i tunes.....

Unless this is a different issue, eBay and PayPal now have a new way to fuck with you.  The money gets sent to your PayPal account, but you CAN'T GET TO IT until the person who paid actually provides proof that the item was received and provides positive feedback (or a certain number of days has passed).  Note that this only happens on items over a certain dollar amount ($300 I believe), and also only if the seller has less than a 100 feedback rating.

I do understand why they are doing it, but the part that bugs me is that some of that money is needed to ship the damn item!  They should at least let that amount be used up front.

To restate this, you CAN'T wait until the money is usable before shipping any more.  But you DEFINITELY want to make sure that you see the money being held by Pay Pal before you ship (I almost got screwed by a scammer last March).

The  threat of scamming is  a two way street and if anything scamming on the seller side is the bigger problem for paypal.

Paypal is supposed to act as the trusted 3rd party for the transaction.
Once they have the money form the buyers you should fulfil your part of the deal and ship.

If Paypal paid out before shipping - it would be a scammers paradise.

It would be very rare that people would be desperate enough to  need the shipping money up front in order to send the goods.

It would be another opening to scammers.

Everything Craig said is right on.  This sucks, but you need to ship the item so you can get paid.

Yes, of course, since I can't speak myself  !!!   :D ;D :o !!!
I can read and write with some mistakes, but to speak is another challenge.....
I have a lot a English friends at the Golf club of Royan, but I can barely understand when they're talking to each other....It's too fast.....And when I try to speak English, they say I have a Deutch accent !!!!!  OMG !!!!

Unfortunately, it's not rare now and caused me to stop being able to use eBay.

Yeah Paypal never used to be that way. It used to be you get the money through Paypal, then you transfer to your acct, then you ship. I recently started a new eBay acct because my old one got shut down due to lack of paying sellers fees when I went through a particularly rough time financially. When I made my first sale on the new acct, I got hit with this new Paypal issue. It really fucked me.

What's worse, eBay no longer allows money orders as a means of payment.

Well, that to me at least is a major improvement.  There was nothing worse than finding something you wanted, then finding that it was money order only.  I hate dealing with money orders.  PayPal for all its faults is the best way to do internet business short of a straight-up credit card transaction.
