We decided to start decorating last week. Started on the livimg room.....oops......we now have the plasteres in this morning.
Funny how things are never as simple as they first seem >:(
A couple of Marshall full-stacks cover up an unsightly wall very well! ;D
I learned quickly that whenever we start a repair/upgrade or remodel, it usually ends up costing about twice what we estimated. ::)
The plasterers did a brilliant job yesterday....don't dabble with the unknown just get an expert in at the beginning, saves a ton of shit for sure. All starting to dry off nicely with a really smooth glass-like finish.
Just looking around to see what else I can break now before we start painting ;D
Go fuck with the plumbing. That's always fun. ;D Usually multiplies into a new project.

;D fuck that, did that last year...won't be doing that again any time soon ;D
;D ;D Oh Yeah!!! The homeowner favorite.
Using the words fuck and plumbing in that context, is a bit gross to me. ;D

Why is that ? Is your plumbing not working ? ;D ;D ;D
Gone one step further now. We have the builders in at the moment ripping out the ceiling in the living room and my home office/server room. Replacing all plasterboards, then skimming over with plaster and painting and completely new lighting/wiring. Lots of halogen downlighters. Once that's all done (later this week) Then it's Rhonda & I with our paint rollers for the walls. Can't wait 'till this is all finished....like a new house !
Halogens? What, are you still stuck in the 80's there Jon? Oh wait, you are. Nevermind! ;) :D ;D

Well, I intensely dislike led lights and loath 'green' Fluorescent lighting, add to that the silly European union ruling that made it illegal for anyone to sell standard incandescent lights since 2009, then about the only option open to me to get the colour temperature lighting that I want is halogen.
Anything's an improvement over incandescent, regardless of the fact that the bulbs didn't last and used a ton of energy, they looked horrible. I don't like CFL either, but I've been really liking LEDs lately... expensive but they last forever, and if you get them in a high enough wattage, they can be pretty bright. Halogens look great and are bright but only save you 20-30% in energy from what I've seen. However, I have installed a couple that have been going for 5 years, which is impressive...
I just put an LED Strip light in my Kitchen. It replaces the old incandescent fixture from 1938. I wasn't sure I liked the LED but it was what the wife wanted. I like it more and more as time goes. (Don't tell her) The Wife is very Green. Me not so much. I guess I'm getting better. ::)
Builders finally finished today (final lick of paint) so now everything is back where it should be. The halogen downlights everywhere really are nice, especially as they are all on dimmers. Next step is a new flat roof on the office extension. Did the current one 13 years ago so time to get that renewed, think I will go for Glass fibre this time....should last about 50 years instead of 10 to 20.
Might even have some time to get the guitar out again now....I have missed fumbling around with that !
