Starting to get into Facebook... found some folks there from the Cave already. Had no idea that so many people I knew from high school were still interested in getting in touch...
If anyone wants to connect there, give me a shout.
Just talked to a friend last night who was doing the same. He's about to go to his 20 year high school reunion and was shocked that so many of his high school friends were contacting him on Facebook.
Personally, I can't think of many I'd like to hear from any more... Just a few I guess.
ah, weren't popular, huh? ;D ;D
Charger, I've never signed up for facebook. I was told it was started mainly for college students, but that now a lot of people use it. I've had a myspace account for a couple years. Might have to look into this.

I agree with that 100%. I can't think of ANY people from school days (apart from those that have been close friends since those days) that I would want to contact again. I hate looking back. Forwards is the only direction to go.
Facebook is a lot better than MySpace. No spam is a beautiful thing!!

No, WAS popular.
Banged everybody elses sheep when he was a teen. Pissed everybody off. :D
I grew up in So. Cal., there were no sheep. Why do you think I moved up here??! ;) :D

I agree, I never look back much.
Kev used to look back, but only when he ran. It's the only way he knew he'd shit himself!!! :D :D :D

I prefer myspace for most stuff, but facebook comes in handy now and again.
Ok, color me naive, but why are Myspace or Facebook necessary/usefull for anything? I know pretty much nothing about them.
Craig,
While some have curiously cited the spam on MySpace, I find that most if it is "meet hot local singles" type ads, and the models are usually indeed hot, so I don't have much of a problem with it. Your mileage may vary. ;)
They are great free promotion tools Craig, in the case of myspace you get to put up 6 tunes up to 10megs for free. Facebook isn't as useful unless you also have a reverbnation account then its more useful. as you can add the reverbnation application to your facebook.
The big thing is it gets your name out on the net, gets more ppl to hear your music and hopefully in the long run buy your music.
Also through myspace, I have found 4 online stores that carry our albums, over 30 radio stations (both online and landbased) that play our music. In addition both compilation cds we have been on wouldn't have happened without the networking through myspace. I have also worked on several projects with other musicians that I wouldn't have been able to do without meeting them through myspace.
Ah. So it's been pretty useful for you, Richard and for Howie, not so much. ;)
I guess if I ever get to the point that I have music to promote I'll look into it, until then I'd rather just hide and enjoy life. :)
I just use it to keep in touch with people, and to see what's going on in their lives. I went to a really big high school, and it's pretty cool to be able to see what is up with people and to ping them if you want to.

I use it the same way Charger does - plus I've got family scattered all over the country, and a lot of them are on Facebook for some reason, so I keep in touch that way.
It can be fun, especially if you're someone who actually cares about people from your past and what ended up happening to them. Because I moved around a lot as a kid, all the people I knew are scattered about the country as well, and MySpace and Facebook are good for tracking them down, too.

My high school in San Diego had over 5,000 students for 9th thru 12th grades (over 2,300 in my graduating class). I knew hundreds of 'em.
I may go look around to see if I can find anyone but, to be honest, there are very few that I'd really like to catch up on things with.
yah if I didn't use it for music stuff I probably wouldn't be on them but I also probably wouldn't be part of any online boards or communities....
ok, I got an invite from a friend I haven't heard from in a few years this morning, so I signed up. Don't know anything about it and don't have time to mess with it right now, so feel free to add me and I'll update the page soon.

Friend is a technical term used by facebook. you rocky top ass rimmer!
Rocky Top Pillow Biter might have been more appropriate... :D :D :D
Yeah, it's funny that there is no middle ground. All these people are "friends" even though some of them are no more than acquaintances, and some are just people I worked with...

It'd be a nice new feature to differentiate between friends, family, co-workers, etc. I know you can create friend groups on MySpace. I don't know about Facebook.
It's been fun (and so far, easier than I expected) to figure out who's who in real life of the guys here who have added me on Facebook.

it looks like you've cut your hair since the picture on Facebook was taken...
Yeah, that picture is from 2005. I just got tired of the long hair and got it cut short when I came to Austin.
It was good hair, though. I got a lot of compliments. It's definitely a different look.
