"I'm pretty tech savy"
;D
Howie strikes again......
Hell in a handbasket since 'ol Steve Jobsbert went away!
Heh, he only has 100 gigs of music? I used to run iTunes with about 600 gigs and it sucked so I went to MediaMonkey which is made for large collections. Now that I'm getting closer to having 3 TB of music, I'm very glad I did!
Go Soundman! :D

It's very important to set up your sync correctly. Also, imo, mixing apple and pc components at some point causes problems. The simple fix would be for DTR to trash his Windows shit, buy a apple computer, boom.... life is good.
I've tried mixing apple stuff with Windows computers and it works fine for a while, then the problems start. I've also put Windows on a Mac computer and it worked good for a while, then again, problems.
I think thats where I would look to fix his problem. I never had an issue with itunes. Or apple stuff. I have discovered that setting up icloud, syncing, etc is very important though. I have a computer guy set my stuff up correctly the first time the way I want it.... then I leave it alone.
Maybe he should pray about it. Jesus surely can fix it. ;D
I don't understand why after having so many fucking problems, he doesn't try something else. What's that quote about insanity... trying the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result? MediaMonkey can sync files to the iDevice, as can probably 30 other programs.
My favorite thing in the world is that there's a Russian engineer in my office who's always talking to me about music gear, and he pronounces it "Jeer pages". That's perfect for me.
Reality dose: you think you are tech savy; you are not. Fin.
I fucking fell off my chair when I read that!
I don't do Apple products for much. I started computing in the mid 80's on a Mac Plus and ran with that brand until the Mac II (first color mac) came out in the late 80's. I used that set up for recording for those 80's years. In 1999 I got my first Windows computer after being away from computing for the 90's And Win 98 SE was a real dog. I made do with ME until 2000 came out but the stability issue never equaled the Mac until XP (which I have been using since it came out) I do have one Win 8.1 computer in my home office.
I have 2 I-Pads which I use for games and Netflix but I still prefer Windows computers above apple products. Macs are nice but Windows computers are far and away a much better value for the dollar, both in hard and software.
I have a Sanza Fuze MP3 player on which I can install any kind of music related material without any glitches at all. (although I don't do I-Tunes I have an account there for the I-Pad).
I paid $5500 for that first Mac II and it blew up right after the 90 day warantee, and cost me a few hun to get fixed out of my pocket. I never actually wanted another Apple Product ever since. (And I would not have the I-Pad if my kiddo did not send it to me for free)(I only bought the second one for the wifeys birthday because she liked it a bunch for games).
I actually do not listen to music very much anymore. It does not interest me unless I am making it or remixing it. I don't watch TV much anymore either.
I do listen to my MP3 player when the wifey has those sitcoms on. I have heard all the dialog and situations so many times before it all bores the shit outta me. So I shut it out with 60's/early 70's music. I think the newest thing I have is Industry Standard by the Dixie Dregs, and some Satriani music.
Oops I do have some recent Peter Frampton stuff too. Very nice guitar arrangements, and well produced.......
I have a 2009 macbook pro that since I took Windows off I haven't had any problems. No viruses, nothing.
I have a 2013 PC that is going into thermal shutdown every once on a while. It will die soon.
Now, I could say that pc's suck and Windows is shit.... but I'd be wrong. Shit happens. Machines aren't perfect, neither are humans that build them.
I could get a PC half the cost of Apple that is equivalent, as much as possible, but I like Apple stuff. I like not having to deal with Anti Virus shit and all that other crap. I like the ease of use of a Apple. I like the look, the superior screens, and other stuff. I like the phones, ipads..... but the headphones sucks shit terds. For the money you pay, I would expect better sound. I'm willing to pay extra for that stuff.
That about sums up Apples success imo.
Well, Apple is successful for a reason. It's not because their product is sub par or shit. It's because they make a damn good product. I think the quality speaks for itself.

Apple does make good products, they are more expensive in both hardware and software than the other platforms. But they are good, agreed.
I simply prefer the Windows platform. I have used both and find the Windows platform more comprehensive in the business world. My kiddo works in IT as a network engineer, and he uses both Macs and Windows PC's and his opinion on both is the Windows platform is for serious work and Macs "are toys" in comparison.....
Nothing wrong with toys, toys sell big time. Apple made much of it's money on I-phones, I-pads, and I-pods and selling I-tunes. If Apple's success was depending on the desktop and laptop computers, Apple would be as long gone as John Scully (the CEO that replaced Jobs when he quit Apple in the late 80's). Jobs made some excellent decisions when he came back to Apple with the advent of the I-phones, I-pads, and I-pods, & I-tunes. And that is why Apple is so successful.
Howie speaks....Incognito that is
I hated Apple for a long time. I never liked their computers or their operating systems. When I worked at Digidesign, I bought a Mac G4, not because I wanted to, but because it was the only way I could run my Pro Tools TDM system. I still have it, and it still works, though I haven't used it for anything but the occasional listen in 7 or 8 years. The iPhone changed my feelings about Apple. I have loved the iPhone as long as I've had it. I've only had two, the iPhone 3G and 4S. I'll be getting the 6 shortly. In addition, the iPad (1) and iPad (mini) have both rocked me. All products that just kill on design, features, functionality. In addition, over the past three years, Mac laptops have been appearing in larger and larger numbers around my workplace, and are now actually a corporate option for developers. It's now not unusual to see developers using them at all, in my office it's probably 1/3 Mac and 2/3 PC on the development side... Which makes sense, since our developers code in C for deployment on Linux servers. No need for a PC in that equation anymore. Anyway, I have to admit, I find the newer generations of Mac laptops beautiful, powerful, and functional. And the cost, which is such a barrier in the home user world, is not so different in the corporate user world. A home PC laptop is probably 1/2 the cost of a similar Mac laptop. But the corporate high-spec Mac laptops are slightly cheaper overall than our high spec PC laptops. If I could justify using a Mac, I'd request one for my next laptop... unfortunately I don't write code so I can't really justify it.
I thought it was boring. I mean, no insults, no one threatening to leave and never come back, no one saying mac computers were "piss", I mean damn! ;D ;D
And, the thread started off about Howies issues and didn't end up a argument about politics or religion. How lame is that!!
I say we all enter that conversation. How about it? ;D
Apple makes good stuff it is true, it is no biggie to me if others like them better than I do.
I don't have an I-Phone, but it could happen. I just need a cell phone for phone calls I have everything else shut off in my Verizon account. I don't want any texting nor internet coming through my phone. It would be different if I needed it to keep in touch at work or was on the road for biz or whatever else, but I stay at home, work at home when I do work. And my old flip phone stays charged 4 or 5 days before recharging. I do Internet on my laptop and work computer and could use my I-Pad if necessary.
I don't do I-Tunes either, I just glom MP3's from the net when I want them, and burn CD's from that and load them on my generic MP3 player. I rarely ever listen to music these days, but when I do it is all available from other venues other than Apple, so I don't need I-Tunes.
It was not easy to get new flip phones last time. The Verizon store only had 2 of them way in the back. I will have to go in early next time to order my new flip phones when they become due.
I started computing on a Macintosh computer and was a big time Mac evangelist until I got Windows XP. Before then, Win 98 SE and ME and 2K were real dogs. with 2k being the least doggie of the three. But XP made Windows a real contender with the Mac OS for stability. Now I am tossing around buying a new desktop with Win 7 Pro on it before there are no more of them.
I have one Win 8.1 computer and it works OK, it boots and quits in a few seconds, and once I messed with it for a few days and bagged the start screen in favor of the desktop, and put my mostly used folders and application icons on the desktop it is usable but I still prefer the old style Windows OS to the new 8.xx style. It is rare that I use the Start button and menu, but I like it there when I do need it.
Hook there is no bad feelings or animosity in any of my responses. It is all good......
Of course if I was making money with recording, it would have to be Mac/Pro Tools HD all the way. Nothing sounds better to my ears than Pro Tools HD recordings.
DM — Nov 19, 2014That thread was amusing!
In the "old days" we would have done a Bert invasion on that thread. Man, we're all getting old and boring now! ::) ;D
Well, looks like 'ol HowieDoodybert off'ed himself. I noticed from his post above that he stopped in, flipped us off, then the harikari'ed his self. Though, hari kari usually involves honor. I saw him listed as an ex member. I was happy to get my member back when I did that. LOL ;D
something going on we're not aware of, I guess. I can't keep track of this stuff anymore.
Nothing that I know of. I probably offended him. I can't keep track of Howie's feelings anymore, I've got three kids, and that's plenty.
Well, I can see where rules in how one responds during a thread are enforced on some forums. I really liked it when all the old guys were here and active. It takes a person that has the ability to distant his emotions from debate probably to handle the action here. Few have that ability.
distance... or masochistic tendencies... I've never really decided for sure. ;)

It took me a while to be able to do that, but that was long before the Pod forums the WH and the Bert Cave.
It's all good around here to me when it perks......
