What a surprise!!! My pleasure!
Careful Howie. Craig might start pulling out those Howie/closet pictures again. LOL
Right back at you man. It's actually been a couple crappy days for me and seeing you at the shop today really changed my mood for the better. What a pleasure to finally meet you in person.
For the rest of you TGP'ers, Howie, Mrs. DTR, his daughter and her special man came in to the shop I work at in WV. His daughter now lives in this area and he was in to visit. They decided to visit the shop I work at. I saw Howie over in the PA department and I said to myself, "What is Howie doing in our PA department?" Had a good afternoon visiting at the shop and got to show Howie some gear (got to show him a Boogie Mini-Rec).
yeah I couldn't believe it. as soon as you ask my name I knew who you were, but I had no clue why you would be in parkersburg west virginia. I will write more when I get to a keyboard

You mean like this one? ;) :D
I don't see you in the picture, are you behind Howie? ;D

We go to Vienna/Parkersburg once every month to 6 weeks to see Daphne. Last time we were there, I asked "aren't there any music stores around here?" because Mrs DTR and Mrs DTR Jr LOVE to shop and they drag me to every shop in the area every time we go.
Daphne's husband said that he wanted to show me the music store where his dad takes guitar lessons. We walk in and I'm looking around just checking out the other stuff before I get to the guitar and amp section. Some guy says "hey, how are you doing" and I say "pretty good, how about you" while being really nice (of course! ;)), but not really taking a good look. Then he says "can I ask you your name?" And my first thought was that it was a bit unusual to start right off with that. I turned around, and as I'm saying "my name is Howie Coleman" I realize it's Chris, but thought... "what the heck is he doing here?" LOL I said "you're Chris!"
I wonder if he'd have recognized me if I didn't have an Ohio State shirt on. ;D
In any event, it's always a pleasure to meet anyone from the forum, but especially one of the really good guys. But what a surprise it was! I had no idea Chris wasn't still in D.C. and just was caught off guard.
When I check out gear, I don't do "riffathon 2012." I usually play chords easy riffs and listen more than I play. Many times I have the guy play while I turn knobs so I can concentrate more on the tone than playing. The icing on the cake was after checking out the Mini Rec and not doing anything even remotely impressive (and talking to Chris more than I played), some other customer comes up and compliments my playing! I think Chris might have slipped him a $20 or something! ;D
Actually Howie, I did recognize you by your face. I just saw your head poking up between the speakers. But my initial thought was, "No...that can't be." The OSU shirt sealed the deal. Would have funny if I'd said, "We sell great equipment for silent recording." ;)
Actually the guy who complimented you was one of the three guitar guys. Nice kid. Plays like a mo fo but doesn't have the ego that says he plays like a mo fo. He doesn't bs people either. =) If he could get out of this area, he has the chops to be an amazing shredder (think a Jeff Loomis type shredder). He's gotten to do some great out of town gigs every now and then that are great for developing his name.
$20? Only if you gave it to me first. ;D
yeah, that's what happened with you. I recognized you, but it didn't register. Couldn't figure out why you'd be there.
What we should have done, is have you get your phone out and video me checking out the Mini, and have me shredding my head off, but have the volume off on the amp. Then you could have posted the video here. ;D
Actually, I gave the guy $20 to say that but didn't want you to know. :)
As Aahnold said "I'll be back"
