Maybe not the best grammar, but I like this comment:

why everybody thinks they will do some kind of opeth or porcupine tree stuff??a really good musician always should try to do some new music..this is fantastic....its not opeth and not porcupine tree..its storm corrosion!

It applies to many other bands I can think of (like Love and Rockets which is NOT Bauhas for example).

I've only listed to a couple of songs but, boy is this stuff minimal!  Definitely requires a chill time to enjoy (i.e., not something I'd probably listen to while working).

yeah I just heard Drag Ropes and lost the plot with this one...  9 minutes and it never went anywhere.

It's all about witch hunts.  The one boy falls in love with a supposed witch, they kill her at the order of the priest, boy burns priest for it.  

I was at work, very busy, etc... tried to watch this the other day.  The vid was cool, but the music.... I think Paul said something similar above.  I kept waiting for it to "kick in" but it never did.  I bailed about half way in.  Should I try again when I can watch and listen more carefully?

I'm guessing they're just not into ambient type stuff (or reflective Cure tunes either - lol!).  Maybe they just can't handle albums with long titles?  ;) :D

I've listened through a couple times now since I bought it on iTunes this afternoon.

at first listen, yeah, it was just plain weird.

Which Explosions In The Sky CD do you like best Charger?  I think The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place is the one I prefer.  Their newest is a little bit more squished (like too many new CD's) which is not needed for their style IMO.  Still pretty interesting though.  :)

my review/summation: "The Pet Sounds of Simon & Garfunkel's Magical Mystery Tour", or "Experimental Album By Two Guys, Neither A Drummer". ;)

I like it but it's definitely not going to have broad appeal.

Yeah, The Earth is Not a Cold, Dead Place is pretty much their magnum opus, kind of perfect and beautiful and full of symmetry.  Full of beautiful melodies, and I love the production on it too.  That said, I have all their albums and every one has grown on me over time--the new one is actually really good but takes more time to like.  If you ever get a chance to see them live, take it.  They are brilliant.
