Bet you won't hear anything from Jackson and his little buddy on this one!

Oh he'll spin it as the white guy coming in and slandering the black guys and they simply defended themselves. 'Tis how it works down there.
Jackson and Sharpton, two very (probably rich) famous civil rights folks. I can't stand to listen to either one of them truthfully, not because they are saying the wrong things, just because they speak out on every black vs white issue whether they have to facts or not.

I am for equal rights for all Americans and in fact all human beings. (And most animals)(except the ones I eat)
It always makes them stop when I say we're the same race.  When they question it I say I'm from the human race, aren't they too?

When someone pulls that "I'm an African-American!" crap I ask them where they lived in Africa (they've never been there) so I then ask how they could have dual citizenship then.  This tends to confuse them and they start spouting about their heritage (or whatever they've been told to say).  At this I always answer "Ok, then I think it's only fair to refer to me as a Dutch-English-American then."  At their puzzled look I like to add "What?  Do we all look alike?"

The more intelligent people I've had that exchange with not only end up getting it, but it usually really makes them think about what they perpetuate without really thinking about it.  I had one girl who was a very smart cookie once ask if I ever watched BET.  I asked what that was (at the time I had never heard of it) and when she answered "Black Entertainment Television" I replied that I wouldn't watch a racist channel.  She had never even thought of it that way.  It's not a one-way street!  I can be comfortable around and have no problem conversing with anyone who talks and acts intelligent.  If someone simply spouts the same rhetoric that was pounded into their heads by the likes of Jackson and Sharpton, and acts without thinking then they are a big part of the problem as far as I'm concerned.

Although the above all sounds like a color issue, I feel the same about others who feel their heritage (which even they probably never think about) or religious beliefs entitles them to anything.
Long time ago we had a debate about racism. I used the term, probably incorrectly, reverse racism.

What I was getting at is that some black folks are racist also.

I think lots of times that poor folks, or folks going through a bad time, have this need deep inside to blame others for their misfortune. It's hard for most to look in the mirror and see the cause of their misfortune. They want to blame someone else.

Looks to me like these guys went in, words were spoken by probably all involved, then they left. They were followed. When the white guys stopped again, the black guys beat the shit out of them, badly. Thats not a little tiny fight and people walked away with a few scratches. In my book that's attempted murder. The dude could be hurt to the point he can't work again etc. Doesn't matter what was said because the white guys left and the black guys followed. They should all go to jail for life. If you want to act like animals, live in a cage like a animal.

I work for a money order company. I have to answer phones all day with people having problems with money orders. These people have a huge, huge, problem communicating. It's unbelievable how many people can't even put together a very simple sentence. It's like they made up their own language. Even pronouncing their own name is a challenge. I've been put on hold before because they didn't know how to spell their name... they had to look at their id or DL. No shit. It's kinda sad in a way. Irritating as hell at times too.

Anyway. I think Jackson and his toy are the largest racist in America. They do their "people" more harm than good. It's like they think America owes them and whoever their defending, a pot full of money or whatever. I hate both of them. They are the exact kind of people that should be rotting in a jail cell somewhere.  MLK Jr would surely be disappointed by their actions. Thats not what he was about.
The big mistake in racial bigotry and prejudice (and even pride) is believing that a person with different skin color is part of a club that agrees on things and that you are part of another club who think similarly.
That doesn't even make sense.
Are you willingly part of the club you were born into?  No matter what the "overt, popular opinion" is?

Do you think thought and actions trump visual identification?

Mob violence is scary, disgusting and worthy of stiff penalty but would you have put up a similar story going the other way?  Was this mainly about Jesse and Sharpee?  Neither of them have been listenable for me , ever...
It was about the article. I just got on a rant, took it to far. Jesse and his toy had nothing to do with it really, it was sarcasm. I don't know what the hell your getting at with all that other jibberish. I was born into the human club just like all other humans.

I get what Binge is talking about.  The biggest problem with this and many other "biases" come from parenting and the environment children are immersed in.  Children are blank slates that absorb everything that they see and hear around them.  Things aren't considered at this age, they're just taken as truth.  Unfortunately, many of these same children will not receive sufficient schooling so they never learn to think for themselves or that they should even question where some of their beliefs and biases come from.  Instead, they get bombarded with further negative reinforcement from clowns like Jackson and Sharpton as well as their friends.  Pretty sad actually.

Do you think they get negative reinforcement from society and conditions around them as well?
Definitely.
