How we raise kids in West Virginia
Miss Sally Edwards is a highly esteemed third grade teacher at Mercer County Elementary School. In an effort to prepare her students for the all-important TAKS test, she compiled an exam consisting of 20 questions, which she administered to her class last Tuesday. The exam purposely covered a broad array of topics. I call your attention to question #11, which simply read:

LIST, IN ANY ORDER, THE FOUR SEASONS:

1. ________ 2. ________ 3.________ 4. ________

Now, could you possibly imagine that 67% of the students gave the following answer?

1. SQUIRREL SEASON
2. DEER SEASON
3. RABBIT SEASON
4. TURKEY SEASON

Randy would have probably gotten confused and put Armadillo season! :D

As for the test, everyone knows the correct answer is:

1. BASEBALL SEASON
2. FOOTBALL SEASON
3. BASKETBALL SEASON
4. HOCKEY SEASON if you're from the North or NASCAR SEASON if you're from the South! ;)

Mercer County; that doesn't surprise me at all. That area is one having a high concentration of rednecks being away from the population centers and out in the coal fields and mountains. Yee haw!!!
