Mine's a comin'.  How many of you monkey's getting one?
If I didn't just get the 4s when that came out... I'm definitely intrigued. The best thing about the iPhones is the cameras... they are stellar.  It's pretty much replaced me ever carrying a digital camera anywhere.  And I know the iPhone 5 camera is better so I'm definitely intrigued.  I also like that it got lighter, and it didn't get wider... I like to be able to hold the thing in one hand comfortably.
I like my iPad, but I'm not caught up in the whole Apple thing like "some" people are.   ;D

FB is a frontrunner!   :D :D
Presales of 2 million, expected to hit 8 million on the first weekend of availability, that's not frontrunning, that's going with a proven quantity.
Thats amazing is what that is.
No need for me.  I'm very happy with my current phone.
May 18th is when I'm going to get mine...the day that my upgrade is available.  It will be buh-bye Droid.  My Droid does have good picture and vid quality, and 4G speed is zippy.  But I just miss the simplicity of the iPhone.
I'm on my second iphone. 3g and now 4. The only complaint I have is both my phones, after about a year or so start to do weird stuff. Like the volume doesn't work sometimes. Sound doesn't work sometimes, weird things. Maybe it needs to be reset or something, I don't know but both phones did that in time.
I had an iphone 3gs for 2 years.  It was great for web surfing and the like but actually that's not what I need a phone for and I'm really not a fan of touch screen as it is difficult to use one-handed (which is how I like to use such devices).  I now use a blackberry (that also has a touch screen that I don't use, I use the "real" keyboard on it instead) but if covers all my business needs perfectly for email, messaging, text and of course not forgetting its primary purpose "Telephone".  Also has a very good camera that I don't use that much to be honest. Photography is a hobby of mine and I tend to use my Canon digital SLR for that.

The best thing of all that I like about the blackberry is it's size.  Very slim, very small and fits in a pocket without me noticing it's there, whereas the iphone always felt like I was carrying a small brick in my pocket.

So, no, I won't be getting another iphone soon.  Been there, done that, over it.
no iPhone here! I hate hate hate the phone. I have one, of course, but it's 1980's vintage touch tone that I only plug in when I need to call someone. ringer free is the way to be, baby! lol.

iPad + iMac is a great combo for my purposes.

been into Apple since about 1982 when my school got some ]['s.

I have an original Macintosh in the basement :)

go AAPL! heh.

MY wife has the iPhone and a Blackberry.  The Blackberry is for work and she asked years ago if they'd consider the iPhone.  At the time, the sentiment was much like yours is.  BUT, this week they informed her that they are moving to iPhones as people contracts run out on their Blackberry's.

I wonder if that will last or if the will bounce back and forth every so many years?

My wife is excited because she MIGHT get to carry ONE phone now instead of two.

I thought I'd NEVER want one of these damn things but the mp3 player alone is worth the price of admission for me.  I plug it up to my car radio and boom....no commercials.  Only the stuff I want to hear.  All day.  Every day.  Love that.

I don't play any games on it.  I have several apps. but not too much stuff.  Catch the news on it.  Rarely use pictures or videos but \glad is has nice functionality when I need it in a pinch.

Never had an issue with the touch screen.

HOOKY.....sounds like you need to turn it off and turn it on every once in a while.  Generally after you keep putting stuff on it you need to reset it.  IF you don't it can sometimes do some screwy stuff.
Shit man, I have. I reset it, then did a restore on it. Same thing. The real irritating part is the volume buttons work sometimes, sometimes not. It shows the volume, but doesn't work. Then sometimes it works fine. Then after continued use, fucks up again. I absolutely hate, I mean hate, to have a fucked up electronic toy.  ;D
I ordered one. I have an iPhone 4 I got two years ago, so it was time. I upgraded in capacity to 32GB this time, though, because I'm always running up against 16GB on my current phone, and I find it frustrating...

My wife endorses T-Mobile on the radio so she has a Galaxy S III - it's a fantastic phone, but she says she misses her iPhone.

I'm really excited for mine to come. I like the added features and I'm kind of eager to hear what the new earpods sound like (I almost went out and bought some...)

I use an old flip phone. But if I was on the road and at work and out there all of the time I would have one or something like it. I have an I-Pad but I only use it for games, book reading, and the internet only when the wifey is using this laptop. But it sure boots faster than my Dell Laptop.

The I phone is a very useful item if you are not home near a computer. My neighbor has one and I have messed with it a bit. Nice stuff......

I'm sure they are rubbish. Go buy a pair of Shure se215's. Killer. Much better sounding than the new Shure in ear type phones. I've thrown every pair of earphones in the trash that came with phones, mp3 players, etc.

Shure makes some good stuff, but I could never get them to fit my ear right.  Ended up getting a set of Monster iBeats.  It has so many different tips that I finally found something that fits well.  Not to mention that it has the mic for calls.  Love them.
How can a choice of 3 different size foam eartips from shure not fit right? You squeeze them and they expand in your ear. Doesn't really matter what your ears are like.
You'd think that would be the case Hooky, but no dice for me.  :(   None were BIG enough to stay in.  Monster offered a special flanged tip that fits perfectly and doesn't fall out.
Wow. You must have some big fucking ears dude.  ;D ;D Why don't you just stick a speaker of choice in those suckers and bungee cord em down so they don't fall out.  ;D ;D

Just kidding man. Glad you found something you like.
Big ears, big dick...what can I say.  LOL ;D
;D ;D

Shure SE215s will cost me a pile of money and have no microphone built in. So, not really a worthy option. I use my M-Audio IE-10s when I want the "sealed ear" thing...and that's rare, because I mostly use the earphones when walking or driving (neither time where I want isolation phones). If I'm going to spend money, I'll get some custom-molded stuff. :)

Just hoping that the earphones that come with the phone are better than last time - not that the last ones completely sucked (they were tolerable and appropriate for what I needed them to do).

I haven't had the ear phones with a mic in a long time.  I have ALWAYS hated the ear buds that came with the iPhones.  I have ears like Dearthian and shit doesn't fit.

Finally found these Sony ones that have a piece on them like glasses so a piece slips over my ear and speaker kinda goes in.  They stay on when I'm in the gym and that's the only time i ever use them.

I have a set of Bose head phones that I use when I'm just chillin and needing ear phones.
You don't use studio headphones for that? Don't they sound much better than Bose? Little eqin my Senns 280 pro and they are are a rock speaker that sounds excellent.
Trip

Sorry, I meant SE210's. I have the 215's and the sounds sucks for me. Way to much bass. The se 210's are way better. Sound stage,,,,, everything. Damn good phone and you can add a sure volume control, maybe even a mic, not sure. I can make myself listen to shit "stock" headphones. Horrible shit imo. The 210"s are a really good in ear phone!!
I will say this for Bose, if you spend enough money on their products to start with, and they give you every opportunity to hear the difference of each price point in their stores, it's actually not a bad buy. I just bought a system for my TV that was almost $700. Thats a lot of cash. But most of us really like good sounding music cause of well, what we like, music. I feel that watching a movie on a $3000 TV through the speakers in the tv is just not possible. Good sound should be the norm for such a great picture. Just me. And their shit is so simple. No receiver needed and you can buy the sound you like. The step down from the one I have is real warm sounding. Mine is more detail and highs, and those 2 sounds get better as you pay more. It's over priced if you don't care about quality sound, imo. If your not that particular about sound it's crazy overpriced. I think their headphones are just average to a little above average. If I want to jam out I just take a good set of cans and add whats missing to my liking, generally more mids and especially highs.
Actually I think Bose is generally overpriced if you DO like quality sound.  Chances are there are other options out there at the same price that sounds better.  Years ago, I had gotten a Bose Acoustimass setup.  Sounded good for pop/rock, but soon discovered they sounded like ass for classical.  No mids.  For the same price, I was able to get a set of B&W 602's (I think that's the model).  On the same amp (at that time Onkyo) they absolutely smoked the Bose speakers in every way possible.

I have studio headphones but they are eqed a bit bass heavy.  I LOVE the clarity of the bose and use the crap out of them.

If I need audiophile shit......I use the Grado's.  As far as I am concerned those are the best far and away.
uh, what was the topic?   ;D
Boobs?   ;D

Damn, I thought Bose was base heavy with headphones. I bought some and brought them back the base was so heavy.

I have Grado sr80's. I thought the sound stage was a little poor and the highs are  way to bright, but, very, very detailed. I thought about trying out the 325's but I just wonder if their worth the cost.

Funny how different people have a totally different view of what they hear in the same product. That always interest me for some reason. Highs are highs, mids are mids, lows are lows. But 2 people hear something quite different.

I have the same thing. 2 speakers and the base module. I use for my tv but hook up my mp3 player from time to time. Sounds great to me and plenty if mids and highs, and base of course. See, happens again. Same thing yet 2 people hear something completely different.

I"m not generally a bose fan at all. I just like the fact of not having a receiver and it sounding pretty good. Easy deal to operate.
I hear ya Hooky.  When I listen to classical, I really focus on the trombones (my main instrument) and they sound horrible on them.  Trombones hit right in the mid-range of speakers.

I use to play trombone in middle school and 1st year of highschool.
Anyone want to talk about how they like their iPhone 5?  To be honest I'm happy with my 4s, until they get maps fixed, but I'd like to hear other people's opinions... also i'd love to see some pics from that awesome camera...

The 210s are very nice...still more than I really need to spend, though... :)

I got my new phone yesterday and it's great. The LTE is AWESOME. I haven't found a case I like for it yet, but I'm definitely getting one because I worry that I'm going to drop this thing it's so light and thin. iOS 6 is a great improvement, with only one major problem...they should have stayed with Google Maps. The Apple maps have shitty contrast between roads and land and need a lot more "seasoning" to be worthy.

The new earpods are slightly better than the last earphones, and definitely more comfortable, but still sound kind of shitty. Too much bass, brittle treble, and hardly any mids. I much prefer a more flat response. But these were free, so I'll use them until I can find something I like better that is equally convenient... :)

I love the phone. I upgraded from an iPhone 4. It's quite speedy, I'm really happy with all the iOS improvements except the maps as I said in my previous post. The headphone jack being on the bottom is weird but I actually really like it. The new dock connector worries me a little for when they start making those iHome radios and stuff for it because it seems like the connector's going to break off into the phones. The flexibility of the charging/USB cable definitely eases that worry, but that old 30-pin connector was robust (if kind of annoying at times).

So far, VERY HAPPY with my new "friend". For the most part, Apple nailed it.

P.S. No pics yet, sorry...
Mine gets delivered today.  So I'll tell ya all about it tomorrow.

The iWait5?  :D
Wonder if it will have Bose speakers in it.
OK

Had it for a few days now.  LOVE IT.  bigger yet lighter.  FASTER!!!!!!  Yeah!

The cameras ARE better.  No hype their.  I only wish I had LTE here then I could facetime all the time not just when I am at home.  If you ask me that's the big thing that I never liked about facetime.  You MUST have wifi most of the time or be lucky enough to live in a location that has 4G LTE.  For the rest of us that makes facetime almost useless.  I'm always on the run it seems.  Facetime would be so cool if I could use it like I use my phone.

Finally got the white phone I always wanted.....then bought a new otter box so you practically cannot tell what color it really is.   ::)

The flash is way better too.

The thing with the maps....the VOICE part of it SUCKS.  They are in with Tom Tom and it just blows.  IT's way off at times.  However the 3D maps are RIDICULOUSLY neat.

Siri....is funny.  I think of dumb shit to randomly say to her all the time and generally she has some great shit.  And she will answer the same question different ways.  All of which can be funny.....not in the stupid technology fucked up kinda way.  More like, someone really took some time and thought to put that shit together.

I have double the capacity I used to have.  YEAH.  I had literally about 2-3 weeks before getting this one actually filled a phone all the way up for the first time.  It was almost exclusively music because I like to have large supply on tap.

I typically don't play games on the phone.  I have an Xbox for that.  But I have messed with a couple of games just to see and the visual quality of the graphics is amazing.  Hard to believe something that fits in the palm of my hand can run games that look better than the old Atari and that console was huge compared to this thing.

SIDE NOTE: I had the original Otter Box when it came out.  I hated it.  Sure your phone was safe but it felt like you were carrying around a 1980's cellphone brick unit.  The new design is sleeker and doesn't feel bulky.  the even redesigned the holder and clip.  NICE!!!  Cleraly that company listens to consumer feedback.  They won me back.

I can't really fault the iPhone 5 except for the stupid voice part of the maps.  But hey they at least have access to OTHER apps that do a better  job in itunes....so....really.....it's a non-issue for me.

The new headphones....sound great for buds.  They do fit better in the ear, but not really gonna be the thing I grab when I'm mowing the yard.  I'll be using the Bose for that.  They'd be great if your in the car and your wife is talking too much and you'd rather just sit back and listen to some jams.

No dude. You could still hear the shit with he apples. Go for the bose and crank that shit.  ;D
ok, the moment of truth here here (aka: our 2 year contract is up this Sunday).  Amy and I are going either Galaxy SIII or iPhone 5.  Thoughts?

I'm heavily leaning to staying Android on the phone and going with the S3.  We both have iPads now and I get that integration.  I also have a Nexas 7 though and am used to an android phone.  Many "best phone ever" comments about the S3.  Done lots of research, and not completely decided, but leaning to the Samsung.

Thoughts?  I realize it wouldn't make sense to expect people to have actually used both...
A few thoughts.

First, if you want to use your phone for audio, get an iPhone. There is no question that Android is not ready for audio prime time.

BUT--second, if you are willing to wait a little while, I have it on very good authority that one of the other manufacturers has written a major update to their software/hardware for audio, that will make it competitive (actually, even a little better latency-wise) with the iOS devices.

Third, I do think maps is a non-issue at this point.  Everywhere I drive, I use the Waze app, which not only has the advantage of voice-driven turn-by-turn directions, but it uses all the data from other users on the system to give you realtime feedback on traffic, police activity, accidents, etc, and finds you the best route to your destination based on realtime traffic and incidents.
not used a lot as an audio device.  In fact, I have so many devices, all this slick stuff either of them does won't be used much of the time UNLESS I'm away from the tablets/iPad.

I didn't love the shape of the iphone screen.  They made it taller but barely wider and the screen doesn't seem to be a 16x9 ratio...  It's smaller than the screen on my Droid X that I have now.  And I don't want a phone that's much bigger than I have, but this is actually smaller.  Just thinking browsing won't be that great...  Don't know.
iPhone screen may be smaller but I'm pretty sure it's got a lot more pixels, and looks nicer. I'm not familiar with the droid x, but I do like my phones small. Big screens are for tablets.

In fact, for my money, right now the 4s is a great deal, it's now $99 and it's got the classic iPhone form factor with double the resolution, and does all the great stuff that iOS devices do.
