Well, here's a tip for ya (free for you 'cause I respect my elders  ;) ).

Black tart cherry (no, not THAT kind! ::) )

My Mom tried a few home remedies for arthritis including soaking white raisans in gin and eating a few each day, but this one was a winner.  You can find Black tart cherry at most vitamin stores and it should be pretty inexpensive (the one we get is only $6 for a two month supply).  Nothing weird about it, it just works.

Another excellent substance for topical relief is Capzasin (the concentrated active ingredient found in hot peppers - 10,000,000 Scoville Units).  Just avoid getting it on anything except your joints or you can burn yourself a little bit (e.g., I accidentally used it on my arm muscles as well as my rotator cuff and it looked like I had a second degree burn on my arm!).  I know a couple of guitarists that use this on their hands before they play now.

Just remember, getting old beats the alternative!  :)

I use my right hand on the root, and the left on the frets, But if it would have helped my vibrato, I would have tried the left on the root, no biggie.
