Don't want to bore or piss off anyone, so I'll just state the facts. IT'S FREAKING COLD. The actual temperature is about 7 degrees and the current wind chill factor is about 10 below 0. Tonight as the temp dips to as much as 10 below 0, and the breeze remains, our wind chill will hit somewhere around 30 below 0.
I hate this crap!
Supposed to hit -40 with windchill in Minneapolis.
Two weeks ago on the CA central coast, we had an entire week where the high ranged from 75-85. That's not normal. Our weather is all screwed up. We're also in the second year of a drought.
Gives a whole new meaning to " wrap that rascal". ;D I hate it for you. I flew in to Minneapolis a few years back and it was much like you describe. Around zero with a wind chill at about -15. Dumb ass me headed right out to have a smoke. Boy, that was dedication. It was even colder when I got to Sioux Falls, SD. Had to chisel a hole in the windshield ice just to see. Ah, Good times.
I pulled the Nancy Reagan on the cold about 25 years ago. Just Say No!
It has been weird weather though. I've seen frost more times here this year than ever before. I live on the outer City limits of Tampa.
It was warm here today, but it's supposed to be near freezing by Thursday. A little Howie gift, I'm sure. :D
Hell they're talking snow in Northern Florida. That shit is unheard of.
Draw a straight line from Jacksonville Florida to Los Angeles California, and I don't want to live anywhere north of that. ;D Y'all can have all that white shit on the ground and sub zero weather. I simply don't like the North enough to bear the shit weather, and dingy grey skies 6 months a year. 8-)
I talked with some guys we worked with in Alaska last year (Delta Junction area) and they were having a little "cold spell." Turns out it was -60 F where they were and they were making light of it! :o
Now I prefer cooler weather and can be perfectly happy out and about in 45 F, but there's NO WAY you're going to get me to a place that gets that rediculously cold! More than 100 degrees colder? Wow.
Getting cold here too. (NC) I think it's going down to 16 tomorrow or wed night, one of the too. I'm sick of winter. this has been a cold winter. Coldest I can ever remember. I have always lived in the south, so you know.

Hell they're talking snow in Northern Florida. That shit is unheard of.
I remember one day I was in Punta Gorda Florida visiting my mom, and my wife was in our RV in Saint Augustine Beach, she panicked and called me up on the phone, the door to the RV had frozen shut. She could not operate the handle so I told her to use her hair dryer on the door mechanism on the hottest setting. After a bit she worked her way out of the RV. So it happens, that was about early nineties. And I have seen the I-95 freeway shut down from the Georgia border to Daytona a few times due to snow. So it ain't unheard of it is just a bit rare.....
It is now after 12:00 noon, and it's still below 0! -2 at noon. Nuts!
Last night, I heard creaking and cracking all night long in my house. I guess when it get's up to 30 this weekend, I will poke around some and see if it is damage or just ice in the gutters, etc. It was -10 degrees with wind chill about 20 below last night.
Might check for rats and possum. ;D ;D Santa might be up there. Just hanging out and shit. ;D ;D
rats... with M80s! lots of loud noises from all things wood this winter. no complaints here... but the arrival of spring will be pretty sweet this year indeed.
We could have gone for the arrival of winter in California. It just never came.
got down to 10 below 0 last night. Wind chill about 20 below.
I haven't been outside since 9:00 this morning, but it's up to 22 degrees. When I walk out to leave this evening, that will feel like spring!
Probably put a spring in your step as well. ;D
Dad and I clearly have a different take on clearing off my driveway. ;)

;D I saw some funny videos on the news yesterday of people in Atlanta and somewhere in Virginia or North Caralina where people just absolutely had no idea how to drive on snow and ice. One guy they interviewed was an over the road truck driver and he was just out helping people get unstuck. He was laughing and said "these people around here DO NOT know how to drive in this stuff. Look!" And just as he said it, on camera, another car slid off into the ditch. ;D
Meanwhile up in Canada ...

Nice little jab there at the end. :)
Quite a week living in the great state of GA. Cannot believe this chaos made national news but then again I can, it was an absolute CF. I spent Tuesday night in a church because I could not got home then finally got there Wednesday morning. Thursday I had to walk a mile to get my wife's car and for 3 days after the madness I swear the main roads around here were so empty you would have thought it was the apocalypse. There is definitely some accountability on the part of the government, schools and businesses that failed to act when given more than enough reason to shut down, but that said it was absolutely incredible to see so many acts of kindness during that time. I hope that the news outlets around the country spent as much time talking about that as they did making fun of us. Of course there were the selfish idiots out there, but for the most part what I saw was a lot of people coming together to help each other out. I am proud to be a part of a community that cares about helping others, even if we can't drive for shit. ;)
