The Watering Hole

I work for a local school, at the cost of NOT PASSING any levies, the admin. are cutting jobs to replenish funds mis-used by our
not so experianced treas.   The board wants to eliminate over half of the classified staff (maint., sec.,aids,cooks,transportation, custodial ). Joanne and I fall in that cut. the board meeting is tonight,and we find out who gets the axe.Joanne and I just bought this house and I just bought a new bike, if we are one  of the un-lucky ones, that would would really suck. That being said, the board ok'ed pay raises for the entire admin. staff, some of which got a 9% pay increase. How fucking stupid is that.At negotiations for the teachers and classified the super. said there is NO MONEY, so the treas. could not sign off on a raise for either.   Fine, but don't give yourselves huge raises.  Joanne and I have only been in the system 10 years, so there are not many people under us in seniority.
   So, keep your fingers crossed we keep our jobs,or at least one of us.

Thanks everyone, it did, Joanne and myself just made it thru. It was a little scary there for a while, but all is cool now.

Yes, good to hear!  But I'm guessing that Howie didn't read your original post very carefully.  Sure, you've kept your jobs, but with all those others gone you'll be doing twice as much work and won't have time to play guitar!

again, thanks to all. I will be travelling around to all the schools now, I no longer have a dedicated building, I will be going to 4 other ones now. Howie, I would love to buy another guitar, however,I want to pay off the bike first.
