Loose — Jul 25, 2008That'll teach you to compare Beck to JP in a JP thread. LOL
Oh well, "To the BertCave" then.
fingers — Jul 25, 2008Too much melodrama.
I am more concerned that we don't mislay a Sheep or a Schils etc.. somewhere in the debacle.
or an IEG.
I don't care for the moderation thing as it puts artificial boundaries on debate - where is the line.
90% of the time the interesting stuff in a thread is at a tangent to it's stated purpose.
The understandable urge is to pull things out and make the "interesting thing" it's own thread and organise it - and it doesn't work as like life the interesting things are mostly organic and unexpected - basically the stuff you can organise you have an office for and it becomes boring.
I think the Rocket section was like that - Rocket was doing the interesting stuff naturally for a year at least at the WH and it was all good - but so good that the "community" gave him a section at which point the vibe probably changed - like he was in an office promoted to the title "head of recording" or something.
Ends up in some moderation war crap going off all the time - and ....
It is best not to set up things like this as for all the fighting that goes without moderation - the alternative is far more crappy and doesn't last long and/or stay real - only reality is that it turns into a political bitch fest about who's in or out.
Count me out of that here or WH

fingers — Jul 25, 2008Too much melodrama.I saw that sheep is registered here. No IEG or Schils yet. I was actually surprised that IEG was not banned by mark... seemed like the kind of thing he was talking about being ged up with. But no matter.

fingers — Jul 25, 2008I don't care for the moderation thing as it puts artificial boundaries on debate - where is the line. And I agree. You're not going to see much moderating from me beyond fixing problems and moving posts to the correct forum, etc. I have already handed over a bunch of forums to other people and I expect they'll pretty much do the same. I like the idea of being able to post without worrying about saying the right thing--we all have enough of an internal filter holding us back, the last thing we need is someone outside also watching our every word.

He has serious tracking skills--lots we can learn about guitar recording from him. I think you're right, something about the vibe changed for him maybe...
