Too painful to even imagine.

Barack Obama is on his way to SA.
Today helicopters were circling overhead doing security checks on the routes his entourage will use during the visit.

Which one of those two did you vote for, Lance?   ;D
Sad, but he is 94. That's a great long life.  If only he hadn't had to spend 27 years of it in prison...

Both.  :)
Too bad the two can't switch places...
I wish him well. He done a good thing with his life over there......
It's hard to grasp how phenomenal this man is unless you've lived in South Africa.

Imagine George Bush visiting Osama Bin Ladens wife (is she alive?) on her birthday and holding her hand and wishing her well.
That's just one incredible thing Mandela did, he visited Hendrik Verwoerds (the architect of Apartheid) wife on her 94th birthday, organised a tea party for her, and spent a few hours chatting with her and her family/friends speaking Afrikaans.

Things like this don't happen in a normal reality...

"President Mandela shakes hands with Bertie Verwoerd, the 94-year-old widow of the late prime minister and architect of apartheid, Hendriek French Verwoerd, in Orania, a whites-only settlement founded in 1991. Mandela said the purpose of his visit was '"to unite South Africa where we cease to think in terms of color."

I have never been to South Africa but I sure drooled over pictures of the waves at J-Bay (Jeffries Bay). Long rights perfectly shaped waves and ride them for a half mile. Quit a a bit different from the take off, turn and burn for one or two maneuvers, then close out on the New Jersey coast. California waves were a bunch better, but I think J-Bay is one of the premiere surf spots in the world. I lived on an Island out in the ocean in New Jersey so of course surfiing was the sport of choice for my kids, so I outfitted all of us in boards and wetsuits, and off we went on surf trips, to Cape Hatteras North Carolina, Florida, California, and Hawaii, but I never got to Oz or SA, but I sure wanted to......
At the current exchange rate of R10.00 to $1.00, a holiday in South Africa for an American is virtually free.  ;D

Why do you think I can sell the guitars I listed at the crazy USD prices, only because of the current exchange rate.
Over 2 grand for one person to fly to Johannesburg from Phoenix Airport, Durban was a little more, and my old lady ain't holdin still on that one. If I goes, she goes, so make that over 4 grand. It may be cheap once you get there, but it sure costs a bundle to get there from here.
no wonder Lance won't come and see us!

Lance, I think you could fit in one of the boxes you shipped me that had 6 Tokais in it.  How much did that cost to ship here?   (you might want to poke a couple holes in it so you can breathe!

yeah and a little hand warmer because the cargo area can get a bit cold at 36,000 feet
