Moving into a bigger music room. While it will be awesome when I'm done, it's a major PITA now. Completely remodeled the room, and have several days into the moving in process.

new paint, carpet, installed all new electrical outlets. Blinds not up yet.

this stuff has already been moved to a different wall, but, starting to move some stuff in.
And yes, I was watching the U.C basketball game on the ipad while I was moving.

Yeah, the only earthquakes here are caused BY the Budda! I wish that head was smaller. That's not a widebody 1x12 but the Avatars are not small and the cab feet from the Budda are not even close to fitting on the cab. I keep thinking I'll snag a nice 2x12 for it and ditch a couple of the 1x12s but haven't yet.
Looks like a usable area. I use Aurelex Gramma pads between my Avatars and stuff on top of them. Helps with the sonic issues and stability.
For example, this was back at my old place but it's exactly how my guitar rack looks now as well:
Interesting. Those things are great for monitors, never seen them used like that, but good idea. Don't want those avatars rattling the rack stuff to death. You see my high tech solution. ;D Some nice foam pads. Hillbilly style. Roy would be proud!

That room has original hardwood floors, but they would have taken a lot of work to re-finish. But I'd always want carpet in my music room for sound insulation.
Yeah, besides just loving the feel of carpet under my feet, I've found that the last thing I need is another reflective surface.
well, I wear shoes, because all those pedals have buttons on them that hurt your feet when you click them on. But yeah, the more sound deadening in there, the better.
Depends on the goal of the room, obviously. If you have three amps each with a 2x12 stack, in a room the size of a bedroom, you're gonna need carpeting, and soffits, and baffles, and maybe a room inside a room.
If you're in a studio room that's got some other sort of sound isolation on the walls, and you like natural verb, wood or tile or concrete can be great.
12x12 bedroom. I moved the amps and it's starting to take shape. Not big certainly, but will be a nice move for me. I was in our 4th bedroom for years and it's tiny. Plus, it was adjacent to the living room so the volume bothered Mrs. DTR. This one is in the corner of the house and will have a whole room (the old music room) between me and the living room so I can let those amps breath a little bit. ;)

The room is starting to sort out. I might take some pics tonight and put them up tomorrow. Not done yet, but getting close minus the finishing touches like pictures, etc. As far as layout and getting most of the stuff in there, it's almost done.
Post a pic of your lava lamp or it's not a real studio.
(Just sayin'...) ;)
Craig, those are the finishing touches that aren't quite done yet. The lava lamp, black lights and strobe lights should all be in by some time next week.
