Anyone know where I can find a free downloadable M4P to MP3 converter. My sister in law has some I-tunes tunes that won't play on her or my MP3 player, so I gotta convert about 26 tunes for her. I tried downloading the easy to find ones and none of them did an M4P file extension on Win XP.
By the way I will be away for 5 days so I will catch up on this topic when I get back (If my Brother In Laws ISP is not working which happens for them)
My suggestion would be to buy a digital player that would play both. Solve the problem 4ever and be done with it.
Well, iTunes is free, but a big load of hoohaa. I just checked and .M4P is one of the very few extensions that doesn't seem to be convertible from foobar2000 (though I hear there is a plug-in for it somewhere). Since it IS an iTunes file extension, you should be able to easily convert it from within iTunes.
I don't think it's possible to convert M4P directly to MP3 -- M4P is the iTunes Store's protected format.
I've never tried this... but it might be possible to burn an audio CD then re-rip into mp3. might work, might not.
Ironsheep is right. M4P is the standard protected Apple music.
The only way to get it back to mp3 (or other format....) is to burn a CD using the original iTunes registered device (or one of the registered devices..) and then rip the CD.
This looks like it would do the job.

Thanks all, and Jon I got that same link from another forum and downloaded that app. I will try it once I get back to Arizona.
