may god have mercy on their souls

What those kids are dead. They didn't feel anything. They are just bodies at this point. What do you really have to have that much respect for the dead? They are friggin' dead.
Also, with so many dead, there isn't really much time for respectful burials. Graveyards, at this point, are full. Plus, health issues from the bodies need to be addressed quickly. It may seem like a horrible thing to do, but it's just the reality of their situation.
Ugly, reality is pretty harsh on this planet.
I'd say God had no mercy on the living which would mean, at least to me, that if there were a God, you'd have very little chance at mercy later on.
Completely shocking to me that anyone, especially believers, would make such a comment. Look at those pictures and tell me God is about love, and he loves you.
There's your proof of God not existing.
Just a general comment, Chase. Not really directed at you. I just can't believe anyone could suggest they had some type of hope that this God thing would have a door prize waiting for these poor people after seeing this type shit happen.
People need to realize that shit happens. Good and bad. It just happens.
The bible itself says the body is just a temple for the soul. When the soul LEAVES.....guess what the bible says. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. I toss ashes out of my grill, (when I had a fucking charcoal one). I don't think twice about getting rid of dust when cleaning.
So why should we in death be so attached to a body that has no soul left in it even if we do believe? The bible doesn't even give that much respect for a dead BODY.
At any rate....Pat Robertson believes this is going on because a long time ago the Haitians made a pact with the devil. God is getting revenge on these people. Your God, according to Pat Robertson, is punishing people that are literally INNOCENT and weren't even alive when this "deal with the devil" was made. So to that I can say....if that God is the real god....then I will never worship at his alter.
When your streets look like this:

What do you really expect them to do with the bodies?
Fuck, I couldn't imagine seeing something like that. :'(
But what's that guy doing? The one with a 7up, water jug, and a container of cookies? That ain't gonna raise the dead is it? :D
I wonder where Obama is getting the 100 million bucks he sent there? The U.S. credit card I guess. Holy fuck are we in trouble.
sorry, I'm with Chase. if that was YOUR little girl or boy, you wouldn't want someone tossing their body like a garbage bag. I don't care how many of them there are too move, you can handle them with some respect.
Hook, you just seem to be finding any tragedy as a way to refute God. That's as legitimate as "if I don't get my way, there is no God or he'd have answered my prayer." If you get the chance, blame Adam and Eve for the things in this world you don't like. If you don't, maybe you'll want to lookup Stalin, Hitler, Bin Laden, Huessein, etc. ;)
No, Chase said he hopes God has mercy on their souls. I find that statement repulsive. Especially after looking at those pictures. That's Gods children in those pictures the God that's suppose to love us, including them. Mercy on their souls??? Shit. Look what happened to them.
I'm not refuting God, there is no God that I'm aware of.
Like I said in my previous post, things happen. Has nothing to do with any God as far as I can see.
I guess you could take your time and bury those people one at a time, with respect. But by the time you did that, you'd have so much disease and sicness on top of what their already dealing with...... right?
DreamTheaterRules — Jan 19, 2010sorry, I'm with Chase. if that was YOUR little girl or boy, you wouldn't want someone tossing their body like a garbage bag. I don't care how many of them there are too move, you can handle them with some respect.

It doesn't matter. THEY ARE DEAD. Somewhere along the way we've become almost reverent to the dead BODIES. I don't mind respecting the dead, but the bodies....are dead.
I don't give a shit what happens to my body when I die. My "soul" won't occupy it anymore. It'll be nothing but worm food or food for buzzards if they don't cremate me.
You people are still allowing an emotional attachment to a body as if it were still alive. That image isn't something you'd like to see. I understand that. But saying "God have mercy on their souls." please......really. Like GOd gives two shits what any of us do with a dead body as long as we ain't fucking it or eating it.
As I said, they DON'T have time to treat EVERY body with respect. They need to dispose of these dead bodies before disease starts running even more rampant. There isn't time to do proper funerals. If they took that time, they'd be doing it for weeks and months. There just isn't time. Nobody wants it to come to this, but there simply isn't any alternative. They have to get this part of the situation under control NOW or things WILL get much worse!!!
First of all, I didn't say to stop and give them all proper funerals. And you MEN can say whatever you want about "once I'm gone, I don't care what they do to my body." But if that were your little boy or girl, you wouldn't want someone picking the body up and tossing it. I wouldn't be offended if it were DRAGGED from one spot to the other, if it's too much trouble to pick it up and carry it. But don't pick it up and throw it like a bag of garbage.
The new estimates are 200,000 dead. They are tossing them into mass graves. They are burning the bodies in large piles. The health effects of being around that many dead are horrific. Until you've pulled out your thousandth body, after five days with no water or food, surrounded by the smell of death and decay, you really have no right to judge. I have no doubt that there are bulldozers piling the bodies into mass graves, how would you feel about that?
It's very easy to look at it from your perspective, where the most people we can even imagine dead is 3000--the number who died on 9/11.
Imagine that level of tragedy, multiplied by 70. And they are not reduced to ashes, these are full, horrible, rotting bodies that must be dealt with, in a place where the infrastructure has been completely leveled, where aid is virtually nonexistent, and where anyone who is even willing to stick with this horrifying job gets my respect.
Before you cast stones think about it rationally.
Donate.
www. salesforce.com/haiti -- they are matching donations up to 250k--there are probably others doing this but this is the only one I know of. Give some money. It's going to be a lot more helpful than your prayers right now.
The video I saw on TV last night showed dump trucks arriving at the mass graves filled with both bodies AND whatever garbage was collected at the same time. The trucks back up one after the other, lift up, you see the garbage come out first then the bodies and finally a bulldozer comes over and pushes some dirt over the load. Then the next truck gets into position.
If you're having trouble with this, think about how many children (and adults) that are currently alive would die due to the dead not being taken care of as fast as possible.
This "technique" isn't anything new, it's been used throughout the centuries for mostly the same reasons (the plague comes to mind).
As for the religious aspect, I think that's already been covered. One thing to add, the body really IS just a shell for a person's conciousness and not an object in itself to be brooded over. Most people don't realize that the entire body is new every 7-10 years (which would be much shorter except that the bones take the longest to replace themselves). In other words, every cell that made up your body 10 years ago has been replaced with new cells. So it should be pretty obvious that the body is not the part of a person that has any permanancy even from a spiritual point of view.
Grimmest of tasks and dangerous.
The aim would be to have the least amount time and contact possible with these rotting bodies.
The really shocking thing about this picture - if this had been in the developed world - the guy doing the flipping would be fully covered in a heavy duty positive pressure suit and operating in tag teams.
And could afford the vanity show of deference to the dead.
it's just an image guys; wasn't meant to convey judgment at all. the point to the picture in my eyes was that life/civilization had degraded to that point pictured; nothing less and nothing more.
those of you using this to debate the presence of a higher power can kindly go fuck themselves in the meantime donate a few bucks please
Damn your emotional.
So if anyone responds to your post and you don't like the comment, they can fuck themselves? Does that go with all your post or just this one? No sir, fuck you. Kindly, of course. :)
No one is using this thread to beat up on God. We responded to your post and apparently you didn't like it. So what?
I'm not sure why you'd post that picture in the first place. this shit is on the news 24/7 and on every TV and radio channel in America and probably elsewhere also.
Nobody wants to see that, especially if a family member or friend were in that pile. It's a horrible situation and set of circumstances. But what they are doing with the bodies is the only solution. Simple as that.
