Man, who knew, I didn't.
Dead at 65, that's just too early. :(
What a great talent and guy.
Prayers out to the family and friends.
I was lucky to see him/them twice. :)

Heh, my Mom saw this on the news asked me this morning "Do you know who Pink Floyd is?" Immediately the lyrics of Have A Cigar started playing in my head...
This is a very sad start to my day. Saw them in 86. Probably the best live concert I've ever experienced. Just finished reading Guy Pratt's book about his life in music including being Roger Water's replacement in Pink Floyd and being Richard Wright's son-in-law. Very sad to think Richard's gone. R.I.P
Here is what David had to say.

Truly a sad day.
So what was the big riff all about between Waters and Wright?
Randy
Just a couple of stubborn bastards. Waters wanted to get back together recently but Gilmour was the holdout in th end. I guess it'll never happen now.

Sad.
Wright was in my view the unsung hero of that band musically...guitarists would always get such a boner about Gilmour and music critics loved Roger Waters' songs, but no one really recognized the awesome stuff Rick came up with.
Now they will...a little too late. Rest in peace...

Yep, I was always a fan of his keyboard playing.
Comfortably Numb during the chorus and a nice blunt used to kick me back. :)
Strings..... dah, dah, dah, dah
dah, dah, dah, dah
dah, dah, dah, dah
dah, dah, dah, dah :)

ROGER WATERS
I was very sad to hear of Rick's premature death, I knew he had been ill, but the end came suddenly and shockingly. My thoughts are with his family, particularly Jamie and Gala and their mum Juliette, who I knew very well in the old days, and always liked very much and greatly admired. As for the man and his work, it is hard to overstate the importance of his musical voice in the Pink Floyd of the 60's & 70's. The intriguing, jazz influenced, modulations and voicings so familiar in "Us & Them" and "Great Gig In The Sky", which lent those compositions both their extraordinary humanity and their majesty, are omnipresent in all the collaborative work the four of us did in those times. Rick's ear for harmonic progression was our bedrock. I am very grateful for the opportunity that Live 8 afforded me to engage with him, & David & Nick that one last time.
I wish there had been more.
