took me a while to figure out and involves the use of some necessary evils (paypal, ebay), but its worth it. what you get is 30% off almost any buy it now auction on ebay courtesy of your friends at microsoft.

search for a major brandname item. i used "aimpoint" for a riflescope im purchasing. you can use "fender" or whatever else you would like as well
what you are looking for is a blue shaded box at the top of the search results screen that says
"Fender Guitar - www.ebay.com LIVE SEARCH CASHBACK"
"Buy Fender Guitar, you may get 30% cashback if eligible"
click that link and it will take you to ebay
now you can search for whatever you want in ebay (only buy it now listings).
to get the rebate click on "buy it now", log into paypal and you will see the "review and commit to buy" screen. at the bottom if you followed the steps there is a microsoft cashback box that shows your cashback. if you commit to buy microsoft will give you 30% up to 200 bucks back in your account just for using their search engine. it works like a rebate and really does work! i just got back 200 in my paypal account from a purchase i made a month ago. takes a bit of time but it does work!
