I figured we, as a group, might be able to come up with, and share, cost-savings ideas in this shitty economy. Just something we might all be able to benefit from. Here is my first....
I've had a lot of fun with the Mazda RX-8 over the last 2 years. But I'm going into 'downsizing' mode and cutting back on monthly costs where I can due to the economy. The first is selling the RX-8 and buying a (gently) used Ford Escape XLT. Yep...it's a downsize in fun/status. But at this point I don't care. I'm looking for reliablility and low cost of ownership.
It has a Mazda 6 cylinder engine, and it is a Ford. I believe in Mazda reliabliity. And honestly, Ford is the only US brand I would buy right now. They are producing (for the most part) vehicles people want, and standing behind them.
This is going to save me approx. $175-$200 per month (depending on gas prices).
Next on my list of cost cutting is Internet/cable providers. Right now I pay about $110 for Cable internet AND expanded basic cable TV through Cox Communications. Any suggestions to cut costs on these items while maintaining performance would be fantastical :) Ideas?
