Going to do a week of vacation there soon. Any suggestions for something I should make a point to do or see?
Bring LOTS of money. Minimum wage is now a ridiculous $15/hour so "normal" things are more expensive, there are hidden toll roads (no gates and little warning, they just take a picture of you and your car then bill you), plus parking is insane. I parked in the same building as a client, stayed the day then had to pay $34 on the way out.
Unfortunately, I can't give you anything fun to try (except the Space Needle I think they call it), since I've only had to drive up from Vancouver for work reasons.
Have fun! :)
;D
"Bring LOTS of money." That made me laugh and then think...
Probably head out to see a mountain or rain forest on the days my wife is working then hit and the coast. My son will be along and he is excited to go - the culture is a bit more open minded about some things. 8-)
The wife was looking at whale watching tours. I get seasick watching boats roll on the dock. :-/
Should be able to find some decent seafood.
Thanks for the heads up on the tolls and parking.
I've never been out there, but I hear that's where Sasquatch lives. All of us ancient astronaut theorist suggest that the sasquatch and aliens are related. Maybe you can confirm that while you're out there. ;D ;D
;D hell yeah, a sasquatch photo would probably cover the tolls!
...and don't forget to post some picture for those peoples that live in the other side of the world and (probably) will never see that places!! ;) 8-)

Yep, I second that !
I will post some pictures!
For the record, the air quality is far worse than normal due to fires in Canada and Washington. During the heatwave, Portland looked the color of a cardboard box! :(
Normally, the weather in Seattle falls into three types: About to mist, misting, just finished misting! ;D
I was looking at the weather forecast yesterday and it showed Smoke under the normal sun / clouds icon.
I wondered if was a suggestion. Hopefully it will improve shortly,
Seattle is a super fun place... don't let all the haters get you down. You have to go to the Experience Music Project, of course... it's been rebranded to the Museum of Pop Culture. It's a super cool building, and lots of Jimi's guitars, etc are there. In that area are the space needle and a couple of other cool museums. Personally, I don't care for the space needle... kinda boring, but you can get a killer view from there. Be sure to go to Belltown and grab a meal, there are a LOT of restaurants there, or hit some bars. I like Solo, it's owned by a friend of mine. Yeah, food in Seattle is expensive. It's even worse than the Bay Area. That's just the way it is. There are a couple of restaurants around Pioneer Square that are badass, if it's still there there is a breakfast/bakery joint that has epic stuff.
As a tourist thing, you have to go to Pike's Place market, and from there you can walk to the water. The Edgewater hotel is where the famous Zeppelin "snapper" incident happened. It's also an awesome hotel. Seattle downtown is kind of a great place to walk around, just be aware of your surroundings. Things are spread out there, but much of the city is gorgeous. The Seattle Public Library, no joke, is an architectural wonder. I am a big fan of the international district, used to be called Chinatown, it has a ton of killer restaurants and Asian markets, that's also where Amazon is.
Some great ideas Charger. The Experience Music Project just went on my list. If I can I will hit Solo. It has a 21+ policy so it depends on whether my wife and daughter leave room in the plan for a boys night.

Didn't spot a 'squach nor a Craig but managed to have a good time.
Good food and beer. Some new experiences and met a few cool people. Loved everything but driving in Seattle.
I am used to calculating driving time to 1 minute = 1 mile. Not applicable in the Pacific Northwest. Did not get rained on. In fact it was dry and too bright when I was in the rain forest and, of course, cloudy when we drove into Rainier National Park. ;D
Hope to make it back some day...
Your photos look like postcards. Awesome!
That last one reminds me of that goofy show on the History Channel "Alone" Where they drop your ass off and leave you. LOL ;D
Sasquatch was standing right behind you when you took that one. :D
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Ciao

P.S. The last picture is pure magic!
those pictures tobe... photography hobby or profession? you're VERY good at it!
Thanks guys! Just advanced hobby status. I have been into it for a long time... Used to do weddings and a few other odd jobs for people I knew well. I do NOT recommend doing weddings. :)
Dean, that's how it felt to walk down that beach. The sasquatch was an indigenous dude who had made a home from the driftwood.
