The Watering Hole

Bit of an odd topic this but just feel that I have to share this.

I shaved my beard off completely a few weeks ago as I'm really fed up with the greyness of age  >:(

So,  I've been shaving with a blade using the off the shelf foams and gels etc and none of them really do the job, never feels like a nice close shave and always feels sore after.  I then remembered the full wet shave with brush and soap the way my dad used to shave and the way he first "taught" me how to shave....fathers seem to forget these days to teach their kids these things!

The most immediate benefit is how much money you actually save when shaving in this manner.  It's incredible how expensive the shaving foams and gels are... wet soap is really cheap.  Best of all is the quality of the end result using brush and soap. OK, it takes a little bit longer, but only a few minutes and I'm never in that much of a rush anyway.

So in conclusion,  shaving has actually become a pleasant experience with a first class smooth result without being conned into spending loads of money on the named foams and gels and all that crap.

Now, to get back to doing some work  :)

I might try that.

I use a electric razor, Remington cheap special, to cut it down some. Then gel and razor doesn't hurt, and is quicker.
I use an electric razor meeself. A Philips Norelco I bought at Sams Club a few years back it works but the shave ain't that close. However I am beyond my breeding years so it is more than good enough.......
I've had a ton of issues trying to keep my face shaven, I have a weird beard I guess...  My solution that's worked the best is to only shave every third day.  Evidentally, the extra length makes it easy to shave, my blades last a LOT longer and it doesn't look too bad even on day 2.  Oh, and I use Edge for Howie Sensitive Types.  ;)

I look good in a full beard and even with just a goatee, but not with gray in it!  (Mine only turns gray on my chin - figures!)
;D ;D ;D ;D

That's funny as that's exactly the same as mine.  Chin and moustache go grey (actually almost white) and the rest is dark brown.  I did try dying it but it just doesn't look right.

Hey Craig, that's an interesting idea, I'm gonna try that, thanks. I use a Braun electric and usually shave every night before hitting the rack (I've read that shaving at the end of the day is much easier than in the mornings as your skin/pores are fully 'awake' vs closed in the a.m). Anyway, I fuckin hate shaving, least favorite part of the day, such a waste of time. The idea of evey other day or so for a better/closer/smoother shave kills three birds at once (blade wear, daily time, better results)...nice.

Lots of white mixed in on my chin, but unevenly!  Drives me nuts as I'm a goatee type of guy.  The white actually wouldn't look bad if it wasn't lopsided...  Stupid face!   ::)

My wifey makes a ton of money coloring hair, make some husband happy and get your goatee colored. ;~) Then you too can be chemically dependent (She gets near a hundred bucks each for a color and style on a woman's hair). I just love those chemicals. She says she would charge about 10 bucks for a man's goatee.
I don't give a damn about goin grey.  I have so many different color hairs that the grey so far still gets lost in the mix.  Though the wife says that she's sees more salt in with the pepper on the old chest.

At any rate when it comes to shaving I shave every morning after a shower.  I find that having the moist skin makes everything easier.  I also tend to put a hot rag on my face before I put shaving cream on.  I have sensitive skin and have found that the hot wet rag before and after the shave are AWESOME.  Shave with a Fusion Power something or other that has 5 blades.  ME likey a lot.

Wipe off the excess with a hot wet rag and then throuh on some Code aftershave.

YMMV
