Is there a function that will give me the tempo of an imported MP3 into Sonar. (Other than tap tempo. Something that reads the file and comes up with a number?
I have Sonar 8.5.3 but I am no guru so I can't help you out with what you want to do within Sonar.
However, I think I remember you saying that you have Band In A Box and according to what version you have, you can import the mp3 using the audio chord wizard and it will show the average tempo. I just tried it in version 2010 and it was only .110 off of the original tempo. It will be less than precise if there are tempo changes within the mp3 file though.
OK, maybe I AM a Sonar guru and didn't even know it :-) .
I just imported the same mp3 file I used in the BIAB test. The default tempo was 100. I selected Audio Snap and under Audio Snap Tempo, I selected Set Project From Clip. It changed the project's tempo to 95.40 whereas the mp3 tempo was 95.
Close but not perfect.
