The Watering Hole

OK I was out in my studio for the first time in a while, I booted my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and I began a project for the first time in at least 2 years. I want to do a tribute to BB King who is in trouble health wise, so I picked The Thrill Is Gone. I have some of the rhythm guitar parts, the bass, the strings, the piano all done to audio although I think I will replace the strings with Oohs or Aahs. I have to put on a vocal and lead guitar parts, and I have the drums mapped out but not recorded to audio. So it is almost fleshed out already. I am going to replace the lyrics with my own versions to honor BB who is one of my early influences, but I will try to keep the melody in tune with the classic melody (as best as I can with my croakings......) Not a bad afternoons project so far........

Man I forgot how to do almost everything. I had to search around here and there to remember how to bounce samples onto audio, and record to audio from my in computer synth, all of it trial and error, even though I have done those things hundreds of times. I guess I gotta just keep doing it or it will all fade away.
Use it or lose it.

I Don't record enough any more to keep the workflow in memory so I have to relearn a few things every time. Frustrating.

Anyway, sounds like you got it back quickly. If you post results I will give a listen...
I love that you defined DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) for us.  It's 2015 buddy!

It was a copy paste from Facebook amigo, it is a chore for an old geezer like me to type it in everywhere I post it. Those on Facebook don't know what a DAW is. It is for the civilians.........

Well I will hit it again tomorrow, today I have the dentist to go suffer from............
I thought I did this one before, so I checked in my DAW, and could not find the multi track file, or Sonar Project file (it is on DVD archived somewhere) So I did an instrumental version years ago long before I really knew how to record, and I found the MP3 on my Soundclick page.

The new version will follow shortly, but for now please enjoy

Listening to the old one gave me some ideas to make the new one sound even better. Too cool of a find........
Oh my goodness, I found the Cakewalk Project folder for The Thrill Is Gone. It was done probably 10 years ago, and I can salvage it and just add a vocal. Neat. I will do the classic vocal for now.
Here it is with the interim vocal until I see what the resolution of his condition is.
