Things are just starting.  A little blowing snow and the wind is just beginning to really pick up.  It won't be much compared to what you Easterners get, but it will probably paralyze our area for a few days.  We're expecting only 2-8 inches of snow, but winds at my place should reach 70+ mph and it's supposed to get down to around 10-13 degrees and stay in the teens for a few days.  That means a windchill of -20 degrees is possible!  Radar shows a good portion about to hit in maybe 45 minutes.  Winds are already in the mid-40's.

I'm all stored up and ready to stay inside, but instead of making music, it looks like I'm going to be putting more of my gear up for sale...

All of my Line 666 Pro rack modules will be going as well as my VHT 2/90/2 amp (I'm definitely keeping my VHT 2/50/2!).  I'm still undecided about my Mesa Boogie Rectifier Recording preamp though...  That should get me enough to pay my mortgage for a month though.  Yee haw.  :(
which line 6 pro rack modules?

and how much? :)
All of 'em.  Using eBay as a guide, it looks each is worth about the following:

Echo Pro $410 to $625
Mod Pro $300 to $325
Filter Pro $150 to $270

Mine are (feel free to joke away about lack of use ::) ) pretty much mint so I'm hoping to get more towards the better prices.

The VHT 2/90/2 is definitely mint and should go for around $900.

I've got manuals for everything and even the original box for the VHT.  I'm the only owner for all of these items (kept in a smoke free studio, blah, blah, blah, etc., etc.).

The Line 6 modules are the green, blue and magenta units in this picture: http://www.n2-o.com/pics/newstudio/VocalAndRecordingRack.jpg and the VHT 2/90/2 is the bottom amp in this picture: http://www.n2-o.com/pics/newstudio/GuitarTopRacks.jpg
god, echo pro's go for that much? why the hell don't they make those again.. sheesh.

I've wanted the echo and mod units... but I don't think I "need" them.. and 710-950 is "need" money ;)
Andy tells me they've really become desired by music studios.  Sure, I'd love to keep them but, unfortunately, I "need" to pay my mortgage!  :)
heh  :(
Wow...  For someone who's rarely ever been around snow or snow storms, we've really been getting hammered!  It's currently less than 16 degrees with 59 mph winds but I'm sure it will be worse soon.  I was up at 4:30am and it was 31 degrees with no wind at all.  It's just gotten worse and worse all day.  I've had drifts around 18" in front of my garage door a few times today that I keep shoveling away so it doesn't melt into the garage.  My side steps have lights along the path that are pretty tall (the tallest I could find at Lowes) and at least two are completely under snow.  It looks funny seeing a dim light showing under the snow (the other is so deep I can't see the light anymore - it's about 3 feet deep just from today).

And the best news?  It's supposed to get a lot worse!

My Mom lives only about 2 miles away and she didn't have any snow today and winds of around 8-10 mph.  On the national weather service site, there's a small, thin band around the gorge area (which the Columbia river passes thru) that is labeled with a Blizzard Warning to go with the Winter Storm Warning that the larger area has.  So where do I live?  Right in that little sliver.

Yee haw.
Ok, I'm beginning to understand why people can hate this white shit.  I'm not really there yet, but we had some nasty ice added to things last night and I spent over two hours shoveling today.  I learned a lot about the correct ways to do things and which tools rock and which suck (remember, all of this is new to a life-long Southern California boy).

The front of my neighbor's house (who's gone until April) has drifts about 5-6 feet high.  I've got some on the side of my house that are over 5 feet deep (I poked a 5' pole in and it went in all the way).

I definitely got my exercise today but I can also see how this would get old very fast!  :)
Well, as usual, I should have sent my Echo Pro your way Sheepster!  The fucker had tons of watchers, I had a few questions, and then it goes for the fucking starting bid of $290!  By far the lowest any Echo Pro has gone for in a long time (the lowest before this was $410, the highest was $625 and mine was in mint condition!).

That sucks, but is no where's near the raping I took on my Waves Audio Processing Accelerator.  Still new and shrink wrapped, it went for the starting bid of $340 (complete with a sticker on it that says $2,400 list).  Of course I didn't pay that much, but I still lost enough to buy most of the amps you guys want.

The Mod Pro went for $315 (middle of the current range) and the Filter Pro for $202.50 (middle of the current range).  The VHT 2/90/2 was grabbed with the Buy It Now for $890.

Hopefully, after some more pain dished out by the eBay and PayPal fees, I'll have a little left to pay the mortgage with.  *Sigh*  :(

(Oh well, at least I have about 8-10 inches of more snow and ice to look forward to between tonight and tomorrow!  ::) )
it's ok, I was only going to offer $289.99! ;)
LOL Sheep.

Craig,   sorry to hear you didn't get what you wanted.  It's bad enough when you have to dump stuff you like for cash.  To lose money on it is adding insult to injury.
Hey, but look at the bright side, nature has decided to give me more exercise opportunities today!  There's at least 18" of new snow on my deck that I'll need to shovel off and who knows how much on my driveway (and I'm all chained up because I have to go places today - this will be fun for a native Kalifornian whose only had to use chains twice... :o ).

Wow...  I just came back in from shoveling and shoveling (and shoveling...).  I've definitely been getting my exercise!

It's a bit deceiving outside.  The cul-de-sac didn't look TOO bad, at least until I went out there.  I ended up with some neighbors (including a sheriff and a UPS driver who both can't go anywhere today) helping out other neighbors who were snowed in.  They all said they've never seen anything like this out here and the news is saying it's the most snow since the 1800's!

I shoveled off about 4(!) feet of the white shit from my driveway and, when I was done, there was already another 4-5" on it.  The drift in front of my next-door neighbor's house was over my head (and I'm 6' 2").

They said we had between 10 and 14" yesterday BEFORE this really big dumping so who knows how much we're going to have by Christmas.  I have a drift on the side of my house around 8' high now.

Remember we usually only get 1-4" of snow a year!  Damn... :o
One of three new "mountains" I created over the last three days...  :o

we didn't get the snow or the ice (like Mark probably got) but DANG it's cold!!!!!
Well, you know Mark likes to get as many inches as he can.

We got another 2" of snow last night with 2-6" expected this morning and another 4-8" coming tonight...

They've got some of the National Guard out here now since there's no way the city or even the county resources can handle this much white stuff.  The entire area is out of deicer and hoping a trainload with more can make it to us.

I actually made it through the 3'+ drifts to check on my Mom yesterday, but only because we had a break in the storm for several hours.  We're back to being buried today.

Wee...  :(
took me 2 hours to get home last night.  1 hour and 5 minutes of that to go 1 mile!

Seems when it started raining yesterday, and the temp was 34, they didn't think they'd need to salt the roads since it was above freezing.  What they failed to realize was that it has been down near zero the two nights before, with wind chill 20 below, and highs during the days of 17 or so... so the air was above freezing but the blacktop roads WERE NOT!  The rain hit the roads and froze solid.  Just playing around, when I finally broke free of traffic, I was a a straight highway and going about 25.  I locked them up and slid 100 feet without even slowing down.  Like a skating rink.  Wrecks and Cars off the road everywhere.  Wild!!!

Today...  50 degrees and raining.  It's WARM out there after the 20 below wind chill Sunday night
Just remember that windchill has no meaning except for humans (i.e., roads don't "feel" like 2 degrees if it's really 30 degrees).  It only applies to how it breaks through the water bond on body part.

Of course, stories like yours keep reminding me of that joke line: "I'm with the Government, we're here to help!"  ::)
Craig, that's true, but read again.  It was down to 2-3 degrees.  Wind chill was 20 below.  So the roads really were down around 0.  I have heard that the wind does make the roads worse in these conditions though.  Cars driving over the roads tend to warm them up some (tire heat) but they say that the wind lessens that effect.  But I probably heard that from the "gov-ment."

Not true, if you lived in the desert you would know that wind over moisture is a cooling method. So if there is any kind of moisture the degrees drop on any surface (not only human surfaces) could be as much as 15 degrees according to the humidity level. In Arizona they use swamp coolers because the humidity is so low here and they do get 15 degrees cooling inside vs the outside.
Storm update...  Once the snow took a break a couple of days ago (after about 3' of the stuff), I've now had over 6"(!) of rain.  So what happens late last night?  More snow...  Just another inch, but sheesh!  Enough's enough!

We now have quite a few rivers that are several feet above flood stage.  Wonderful!  :(
Happy New Year Gents:

Craig,

Man oh man.....

just got back from Bend and is this shit every going to stop...

no floods around me but debris everywhere.

How are you holding up?

Might want to check on that Harv (or is it Dave? :D ).  Although I'm very familiar with the concept of evaporated cooling, I think if you look it up you'll see that wind chill has nothing to do with it (it only has to do with the apparent temperature on skin).

Anyway, our CURRENT storm has been one of strong winds.  So far it's been going on about three days and, last night, we had sustained winds at my house over 70mph with gusts around 78mph...  All of the roofs below my house have a lot of shingle damage, and many of the houses on my street (including mine unfortunately) have some as well.  Lots of trees, branches, signs and fences are down as well as bus benches, newspaper vending machines and, at least, one billboard that I've seen.   Our street sign is laying in the gutter and my next door neighbor has a hole in his siding where some wind-born object slammed into his house.

Good thing there's no rain or snow this time or we'd all be having major leaks!

OK no biggie, I do know the wind does cool beyond just a human skin surface if there is any moisture on it depending on the humidity.

Anyways wind chill in Arizona is not quite an issue because it rarely gets below freezing here in the Sun Valley, and if it does it is up beyond 60 in a few hours after sun up.
