Dear American:
I need to ask you to support an urgent secret business relationship with a transfer of funds of great magnitude.
I am Ministry of the Treasury of the Republic of America. My country has had crisis that has caused the need for large transfer of funds of 800 billion dollars US. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be most profitable to you.
I am working with Mr. Phil Gram, lobbyist for UBS, who will be my replacement as Ministry of the Treasury in January. As a Senator, you may know him as the leader of the American banking deregulation movement in the 1990s. This transaction is 100% safe.
This is a matter of great urgency. We need a blank check. We need the funds as quickly as possible. We cannot directly transfer these funds in the names of our close friends because we are constantly under surveillance. My family lawyer advised me that I should look for a reliable and trustworthy person who will act as a next of kin so the funds can be transferred.
Please reply with all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we may transfer your commission for this transaction. After I receive that information, I will respond with detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the funds.
Yours Faithfully Minister of Treasury
Henry Paulson
It hurts to laugh at this...but that was funny.

Cheers,
jayson
When I lived in Irvine down in Orange County California we used to call it the Peoples Republic of Irvine. It was an unbelievably socialistic police state. Randy would have loved it! ;)
Too bad I can't keep my politics out of this section. So here comes my same old stupid political rant.
Yeah, too bad Carter, Bubba, ACORN and MANY others were all parts of the START of this problem, all wacko DEMS no less!
When you FORCE lending institutions to GIVE loans to people that can't afford it....or even have a job....then you get what we have here today. ;D
Now WE THE PEOPLE....must BAIL THESE IDIOTS OUT! ::)
You can listen to it.... ;D

And the facts all POINT AT THE DEM PARTY and their corruption, having sold their souls to George Soros, Move on dot org, and so many other LIKE cesspools. ;D
So not only are Wackjob, Socialist Dems RESPONSIBLE for this mess....they're also the ones that have BLOCKED the U.S. from drilling it's own oil in the Gulf of Mexico in UNDER 50 mile ranges, and have also blocked the building of new Gas Refineries FOR 35 DAMN YEARS! ;D
NONE OF THIS WAS EVEN NECESSARY.
Nuclear power?
Not no but HELL NO....brought to you by the DEMOCRATIC PARTY! ;D
Shale Oil from Colorado?
Again....HELL NO! ;D
ANWR?
Again....Democrats are too FRIGGIN' STUPID to box their way out of a WET PAPER BAG. ;D
Can China, Cuba, S. America and others drill in the Gulf?
You damn right they can....but just not the U. S. ;D
So with IDIOT DEMS you get all this....FORCED FINANCIAL MELTDOWN with NO DOMESTIC OIL, REFINERIES, NUKE POWER, or anything else....all WHILE THEY BLAME THE CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS. ;D
Yes, you're right....you can't write shit this good...only Socialist Democrats can produce a royal mess of this magnatude.
Will you hear about ENRON?
Hell yes you will.
Will you hear about Toe Tapping in a bathroom stall?
Hell yes....from all major Networks for MONTHS AT A TIME. ;D
Will you hear about John Edward cheating on his wife?
Only on Fox News. ;D
Will you hear about Socialist Dems causing this mess?
Hell no.....NOT A PEEP.
So you see....you have Socialist Dems trying their best to make this country a Socialist state.
Then you have IGNORANT followers....that are so drunk on their KOOL AID that they don't even see it coming.
Do I need to mention any names here?
No.....I think not.
Way to go Komrades! ;D
Socialist Dems have figured the BEST way to do this is to TRY to make this LOOK LIKE Republicans are responsible for this mess.
They do this WITH FULL KNOWLEGE that they're going to tear down our economy, our savings, raise gas prices to hell, and could care less if Amer'ca is FORCED to go back to the HORSE AND CARRIAGE. ;D
Thank God for the people in FLY OVER country.
In the end....these Democratic IDIOTS will have no part in the last chapter of this story.
You say you want a Revolution?
Well....watchout what you wish for...you may just get it.
Dems THINK that the BITTER AMERICANS, CLINGING TO THEIR GUNS & BIBLES, (Obama quote), will just sit there forever and take their crap.
Amer'ca wasn't built on that kind of ridiculous thinking....nor will it put up with it. ;D
Saddle up boys....it's going to be a long-rough ride. ;D
Randy
NOW THIS IS MORE LIKE IT. ;D

I am a lock-step Republican who can't keep my politics out of the General Discussion section. And by the way, I heard, first on Fox and Friends, and then on Rush today everything I need to say now, and it's all very important, and TRUE.
Democrats Killed Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Fix in 2005.
We could have avoided the current financial mess we' re in, but certain key Democrats (including all-time Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac political contribution leaders Chris Dodd) killed it . ...in 2005 Alan Greenspan told Congress how urgent it was for it to act in the clearest possible terms: If Fannie and Freddie ``continue to grow, continue to have the low capital that they have, continue to engage in the dynamic hedging of their portfolios, which they need to do for interest rate risk aversion, they potentially create ever-growing potential systemic risk down the road, he said. ``We are placing the total financial system of the future at a substantial risk.
What happened next was extraordinary. For the first time in history, a serious Fannie and Freddie reform bill was passed by the Senate Banking Committee. The bill gave a regulator power to crack down, and would have required the companies to eliminate their investments in risky assets. . . .
Now that the collapse has occurred, the roadblock built by Senate Democrats in 2005 is unforgivable. Many who opposed the bill doubtlessly did so for honorable reasons. Fannie and Freddie provided mounds of materials defending their practices. Perhaps some found their propaganda convincing.
But we now know that many of the senators who protected Fannie and Freddie, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Christopher Dodd, have received mind-boggling levels of financial support from them over the years.
Throughout his political career, Obama has gotten more than $125,000 in campaign contributions from employees and political action committees of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, second only to Dodd, the Senate Banking Committee chairman, who received more than $165,000.
Clinton, the 12th-ranked recipient of Fannie and Freddie PAC and employee contributions, has received more than $75,000 from the two enterprises and their employees. The private profit found its way back to the senators who killed the fix.
There has been a lot of talk about who is to blame for this crisis. A look back at the story of 2005 makes the answer pretty clear.
The connections between Demcorats and the housing mess are significant, and being overlooked.
Former Fannie Mae CEO Franklin Raines (who left the company after using accounting voodoo to line his pockets with undeserved bonuses) worked for the Clinton administration. Hes also advised the Obama campaign.
The majority of the political money Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have given to politicians has gone to Democrats, with Senators Chris Dodd, Barack Obama and John Kerry topping the list.
It has been liberals, and not conservatives, who have in the past demanded that mortgage lenders be forced to loan to subprime borrowers. Jimmy Carter signed the Community Redevelopment Act into law, and Bill Clinton amplified that legislation creating the market for subprime loans that is causing all of these problems now.
If government, at the behest of liberals, had kept their noses out of the mortgage industry from the start these companies that are suffering now would have long since failed due to poor businesses practices, and we wouldnt be facing the problems were facing now.
Too simple and all of this is on the record, but will Dems admit to it? HELL NO! ;D

My mousewheel finger is sprained, so I can't scroll all the way down to politics. So I am putting this topic in the wrong section. My excuse is the same one it always is... I am from the South, and "we do things a little different."
Democrats Kill Legislation That Would Open Up Colorado Oil Shale.
Because nothing says we want to help the American with gas prices like blocking the development of new oil resources.
The Senate Appropriations Committee today narrowly defeated Sen. Wayne Allards attempt to end a moratorium related to oil shale development in Colorado. . . .
The moratorium prevents the Department of Interior from issuing regulations so that oil companies can move forward on oil-shale projects in Colorado and Utah. Allard said the moratorium has left uncertainties at a time when companies need to move forward and in the long term make the United States more energy independent.
If we are really serious about reducing pain at the pump, this is a vote that would make a difference in peoples lives, Allard argued.
But in a 14-15 vote, the committee spilt strictly on party lines and rejected the amendment.
When the Democrats tell you they care about high gas prices, or that they want to make us independent of foreign oil, dont believe em.
Actions speak louder than words.
Amen! ;D
Randy
I am a right-wing tool, and I can't post in the politics section like all the other political junkies.
Democrats Want to Socialize Oil, Healthcare.
The presidential race this week came into focus, giving voters the sharpest choice since Ronald Reagan ousted the worst president in American history, Jimmy Carter.
In the far left corner of this fight is Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, representing the modern Democratic Party.
This is no longer the Democratic Party of patriots Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Harry Truman, and John F. Kennedy.
Todays Democratic Party has been taken over by radicals. As one of the heads of the extremist group MoveOn.org said of this once-great party, We bought it. We own it.
Democratic leaders leave little doubt as to how far to the loony left their party has drifted.
In late May, Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of Los Angeles, grilling oil company executives in committee hearings, blurted out: This liberal will be about socializing . . . uh, um . . . She paused, perhaps noticing that she had let the Democratic Partys mask slip, then continued: would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies. On Wednesday this week Democratic congressional leaders held a press briefing to respond to President George W. Bushs call to lift the moratorium on offshore oil drilling.
Democratic Rep. Maurice Hinchey of New York offered another way to bring down gasoline prices, now topping $4 per gallon in most of the United States. We should own the refineries, announced Rep. Hinchey. Then we can control how much gets out into the market.
Other leading Democrats chimed in with threats to confiscate federal leases for which Americas oil companies have paid billions of dollars.
Eager to distract public attention from the Democratic Partys refusal to authorize new areas for drilling, these left-wing politicians on Wednesday spoke on and on about how oil companies had leased tens of millions of acres not yet being drilled.
But as any knowledgeable 5-year-old knows, these same Democrats have made drilling extremely difficult, requiring many, many state, federal and environmental studies and permits that, on average, delay drilling for 10 years or more.
The private property expropriations advocated by Reps. Waters and Hinchey are like those of Venezuelas Marxist dictator Hugo Chavez.
Both Waters and Hinchey are prominent members of the progressive caucus, an organization that used to boast of its affiliation with Democratic Socialists of America.
Is it any wonder that since 1984 the Communist Party USA has ceased running presidential candidates and directed its members instead to vote for the Democratic Party candidate?
Neither the partys presidential standard-bearer Sen. Obama nor congressional Democratic Party leaders have in any way repudiated the call for private property confiscation by Reps. Waters and Hinchey.
Not really standing in anybodys corner but as near the dead center of the ring as he can is Arizona Sen. John McCain, the presumptive presidential candidate of a spineless Republican Party.
McCain has muddled and reckless views in support of government-expanding schemes to remedy the dubious dangers of purported global warming. And one of them in which McCain panders to environmentalists has been to oppose drilling for oil on a mere 20 acres of the 19 million acres of permafrost wasteland at the far northern edge of Alaska known as ANWR, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
But at least McCain favors drilling offshore, most of which would be 10, 20, 50 or 100 miles out from tourist beaches.
The latest polling indicates that 2 out of 3 Americans now favor increased oil drilling in America. Obama opposes this. McCain favors it. Let the voting begin.
At Wednesdays press briefing, the chairman of the House Resources Committee, Rep. Nick Rahall of West Virginia, repeated another Democratic Party cliché: You cant drill your way out of .
Is this true? First, combine our 60-plus years of proven oilfield reserves, plus new finds in the Dakotas and Montana, plus the vast shale oil deposits of Colorado, plus ANWR, plus a potential Saudi Arabia worth of oil offshore. Then add to that Americas coal reserves, the largest on earth, which if converted to liquid fuel could easily supply all our needs for at least 400 years.
If America had the will, could we drill our way out of our dependence on politically-unstable foreign oil producers? H-E-double-Hockey-sticks yes, we could, while holding speculators at bay.
So why do Democrats oppose our troops in the Middle East, yet block all realistic efforts to break our dependence on oil from such turbulent places?
Someone more cynical than this columnist might note that beneath his gentle West Virginia accent, Rep. Rahall is a proud Arab-American with complex connections and motives.
Senator McCain this week also came out in favor of building 45 new nuclear reactors to help replace fossil fuel-burning facilities.
Nuclear power, with its zero greenhouse gas emissions, is embraced by honest environmentalists such as Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore. But to the most extreme radical environmentalists, global warming and other purported ecological problems are not about saving the environment.
They are weapons with which to expropriate and exterminate capitalism and private property, and to destroy the U.S. economy, the cornerstone of American power in the world. And precisely such radicals are the puppeteers who now pull the hidden strings of the Democratic Party. Obama embraces them.
Democratic politicians understand that by threatening to expropriate American oil companies and refineries, they are frightening away private investment that might solve our current difficulties.
Democrats drove medical costs into the stratosphere with their requirements that hospitals treat millions for free, and by forcing doctors to practice ultra-defensive, ultra-expensive medicine to escape lawsuits by Democratic allies, the John Edwards trial lawyers.
These same Democrats are now likewise strangling the oil companies, choking off their domestic supply and on the off chance they earn a profit despite this plotting to confiscate their capital via windfall profits taxes.
The Democratic aim in both cases is to make private enterprise impossible in order to clear the way for a government takeover of our healthcare and our energy, two giant steps down the road to socialism and serfdom.
Sad....but true. ;D
