The Watering Hole

I haven't said a whole lot about where my relationship has been going to this point, but today I am marrying the love of my life later today.  Laura and I started dating back in August after my trip to DC.  I am so comfortable with her, I am on the same page about most things with her, and love her with all my heart.  We are getting together in about an hour to go get our wedding license.  We are doing a small ceremony with just family.

I am, in the next couple months, going to be relocating to DC.  She has a condo in Woodbridge, VA, so we don't have to find a place.  I just move.  I have already had a couple job interviews.  Last Monday I had a get together with an IT manager at the Pentagon and he seems to think he can work me into something decent in the next 6 months (pending formal interview and background check; Secret clearance is required.  Also have to get a Security+ certification).

The other big news is that, come September, I am going to become a first-time Dad at the age of 41.  Laura is 39, so this is going to be interesting for us.  The funny thing is she wasn't supposed to be able to have kids.  20 years ago, she was diagnosed with endometriosis (a very common cause of infertility).  Guess those extra-strength Dearth genes had none of it.

Here is obligatory couple pic.  Us on the DC Mall.  ;-)

Congrads Chris. Good luck with the future.
Congrats.

What's the plan regards your  orchestral stuff  ?

Cool!  Congrats!
Congrats Chris!!!!!  I am on vacation but had to log in to reply when I read this on my blackberry.

Best wishes!  Oh, and I get to say one of my old sayings....

"Nothin' says lovin', like one in the oven."    :)
congrats
Congratulations!
Thanks for all the wishes guys.  It has been a pretty amazing weekend.  We spent our wedding night at the Blennerhassett Hotel in downtown Parkersburg.  It is a really nice historical hotel and we had a really nice suite for the night.  Saturday, we had dinner with some of my close friends and, yesterday, with some of her family.  She heads back to DC today and I am going to be moving there in about 4-5 weeks.

Fingers, in the short term (until I have a long-term job) I am going to continue doing WV Symphony as much as is practical.  Once I have a long-term job, I will take a 1-year leave from the orchestra.  Realistically, long-term, I will probably resign that position.  But, at that point, I will shift my playing to the local DC area.  The freelance market there is supposed to be really good and I will be able to work as much as I want.  It will actually be a refreshing change for me.
Idiot!!!  Now you're stuck with the same piece till ya die.

JK!!!!!  Congrats!
