But it does breed a few fun things!  :D

I just heard on the news that the future Monarch of the UK has just shat himself, dribbled a bit, puked up over his mother, and then rolled around on the floor screaming and crying.

Ahhhhhhhh.........

Good old Charles.

Interviewer: So, what colour hair did it have?

Royal Doctor: None at all. It was completely bald.

Interviewer: Was it cute?

Royal Doctor: Oh yes, it was beautiful, certainly one of the cutest I've ever seen.

Interviewer: Great, now let's talk about the baby.

;D
;D ;D
Breeding I don't know why it is big news, almost everyone does it, no big deal.
It is if one of you breeds with someone else.  ;D
The royal family are the highest paid unemployed family in the uk.  Useless parasites every one of them that have no place in a democratic world. Nobody voted for them, they just sponge off our taxes and we just have to pay for their upkeep.

String 'em all up !
I hear they're going to have a paternity test done just to make sure that Wayne Rooney isn't really the father...  ;)
Amazing how nobody ever seems to make anything of the fact that the other idiot Prince Harry has red / ginger hair !   Dianna was blonde and Charles black/dark brown, so that sounds like someone digging in someone else's garden too  ;D    Interestingly I think Major Hewitt had ginger hair ....
Wasn't Diana having a tumble with some guy that managed the horses?  ;)
Your cofused it seems. It was one of the horses.  ;D

Good to know that around the world there's some one outraged. Here in Italy everything is "NORMAL".

In southern Italy there are 30,000 rangers...yes 30,000!! In the entire Canada they're 4,000... Normal
Our parliaments has 945 MPs. How many in the U.S. ? How many in the U.K.? .... Normal
Every Member of Parliament has 2 secretary (payed with our taxes)... Normal
The secretary head earn a bit less than 600,000 € per year!!! .... Normal
Our police head earn  more than 600,000 € per year... Normal
There's no  plan for wi-fi or fiber...but we are ready to buy 90 "F35"! To fight who? .... Normal
There's a plan for high speed railway ( a tunnel thru the Alps!!!) of 8 billions € to join the French railway while we don't have enought schools and teachers for our childs....but we'll have a fresh croissant every morning! ..... Normal.
We are a Nation since 150 years. After 150 years we are still "fighting" the mafia... Normal

During TV news a UK journalist asked to one of our Parliament Member:
"what is the threshold for the outrage?"

I'm still waiting that answer...

we are experts of parasites. We we do not fight them, we treat them ...  >:(

Enjoy your Queen and the Royal family!  :)

The main difference is that the majority of you voted him into office.   We have a prime minister to run our country that we voted into office and then we have the royal family that nobody voted for, nobody wants but everyone has to pay for via their taxes.  Outrageous, and has no place in a modern democracy at all.
Good find, Sheep.  Mrs. Obama be livin' large.  COMPLETELY OT, but I still can't get over her tweeting the gay basketball player saying "We're proud of you and we got your back."   How about tweeting that to a fireman or police officer or one of the young men over in the middle east!
I think you could look at it another way if you want a silver lining. the royals and all their related stuff are something of a tourist draw. I wouldn't be surprised if they were a net positive for your economy. but yeah, the cost of maintaining a president in office is definitely different in a democratic sense. still, it's amazing what that price tag is these days.

but to be honest, I don't really worry about it. it's a drop in the drop that's a drop in the bucket... if that. we've got much bigger problems.

also, I don't pay any attention to what first ladies tweet. :)

hmm, that sounds eerily familiar...

We have a federal reserve chairman to run our country that we didn't vote into office and then we have the rest of the fucking bankers that nobody voted for, nobody wants but everyone has to pay for via their taxes.  Outrageous, and has no place in a modern democracy at all except that it runs it.

one last thing:

dtr, I would highly recommend Jonathan Haidt's recent book "The Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided By Politics And Religion" if you're genuinely interested in understanding why she would tweet that and you would tweet the other. fascinating - a great tool... I despise vastly fewer people now! ;) :D

The comparison should be to Cameron's payroll. Then there's a factor of 6 in there, since the UK has a population 1/6 of the US... and then a factor of 40, since the UK is 1/40th the land mass, so travel should be significantly cheaper...

The royal family doesn't even count, they are a non-factor in terms of cost to the UK since they are massive net earners, and oh yeah, already rich.  They control (but do not own) some $11 billion in sovereign real estate that makes Britain something like $300 million a year... in effect, paying into the UK government 6x what the government pays them.

Yes, as I mentioned, they are net earners for the UK, and not just because of tourism, but because of the holdings of the Crown Estate.

This is quite off topic, but, fuck you. Coming out to back up the first ACTIVE player to come out as gay isn't important?  Maybe not to you, but obviously our president and his wife don't have your priorities, and why would they, or should they?  Do you hate all the pro players who came out and tweeted support for Williams, too?  Is it an evil thing for a person to spend 15 seconds on a 140-character-or-less statement of support?  Would it be better if they broadcast some nice hate for ya?

In my mind, you are espousing this attitude.  This is why no matter how much I like the idea of a higher power, I am consistently turned off by the people who organize to hate others practice organized religion.

But an unelected family that takes money in taxes from each and every one of us has absolutley no place in a modern democracy. Also of course until last year the queen didn't have to pay tax (and didn't) on any of her income...at least the government had the balls to change that and she now pays tax.

Parasites
But without them you would have a yearly net loss to your budget of ~160 million pounds... I take the royals for the win, there.

Also, it's not really a democracy, is it? It's a constitutional monarchy (albeit with an unwritten constitution). Officially, executive authority is seated with the monarch, with the advice and consent of the PM and parliament, though I'm sure it doesn't really work that way most of the time.  But that's the "official" line.  So you could look at Elizabeth II as unemployed, or you could look at her as the highest-ranking employed official in the country.
charger — Jul 29, 2013But without them you would have a yearly net loss to your budget of ~160 million pounds... I take the royals for the win, there.

But that's not the point.  Every person in the uk pays a portion of their taxes directly to the royal family which is already an extremely wealthy family. When a royal becomes 18 he/she immediately is paid an annual salary from the civil list (from our taxes) without doing anything other than being a member of that family. We have no say in this. We did not elect them and the majority of us do not want them.  It is not right. If you love our royal family so much then you are welcome to have them and take them off our hands.
huh, they really are a net positive eh? not bad for being lazy and not actually looking into it, if I do say so myself.  ;D
well, perhaps that was a little harsh.  I probably would have edited it out if I wasn't so busy and now it's copied so...  But I haven't gotten an FU from Charger in quite a while so Charger, you get one of these.   ::)  LOL

Regardless of your take on his "coming out" it just hit me as rather classless.  Hey, I'm the first lady and I am proud of you.  PROUD?  What did he do to be proud of?  Tweet that to the football player AND THE OTHER GUY who pulled a women and 3 kids out of a burning car last week.  THEY did something to be proud of.  Coming out as gay...  not so much.  Do you think if I post that I'm straight she'll send me her pride as well?   ;D

Sheep, I don't hate anyone.  Seriously don't.  Just that whole thing of her making the news for sending that message hit me wrong.  There are too many people doing things deserving of pride that never get an recognition for it, and if they are good people DON'T WANT IT OR CARE, but the presidents wife is proud of dude for being gay...  strikes me as a bit misguided...   will look into the book though.

If we got anyone in our country that we had to pay $40mil a year, and then they paid us back $200 mil a year, I think we'd take them in a heartbeat.  I understand the objection from the "it's just not right" position, but I also understand the return on them is pretty fabulous and actually lowers your tax obligation.

As a sportsperson yourself, you should understand how big of a deal that is.  I understand you don't think gay people should exist or have rights, which still deserves a fuck you, because, well, it's 2013, not 1200BC, but also... she's the president's wife, and she can send a 15-second, 20-word  text on whatever the hell or whoever the hell she wants.  It's got nothing to do with the subject.  She's not eating a billion dollars in budget sending tweets--I bet that tweet cost her all of 2 cents.  If you want to look at "misguided" look at you, attacking someone for NOT doing what YOU want to do.  What the hell is stopping YOU from tweeting about the things you want to tweet about?  Why the hell should anyone else be tweeting what YOU want to tweet?  Why should they care about what you care about?

I don't give a crap about PRS guitars.  Should I tweet about them, because you care deeply them?  Should I be offended if you tweet about them because, well, you could be tweeting about a firefighter?  Puhleaaaase, muthafucka.
dtr, I would recommend that book to everyone here, honestly, not just you. it's not self-help or anger management stuff. ;)

I doubt you hate anyone - in fact, I suspect you would be shamed if you found yourself truly feeling that way.

the nature of the "left/right" divide has always fascinated me and, for the first time, I think I actually understand a little bit of what's going on after reading that book. ymmv!

just seemed appropriate to mention it today since you happened to put your moral foot down right on charger's moral toes. :)

I put that book on my library's hold list, 4th in line... it's pretty rare to read reviews for a book about anything to do with politics on Amazon that are universally good...
if you're into behavioral psychology at all... the other excellent one I read recently was Kahneman's Thinking Fast And Slow. great stuff!

How many people do you think that will at least help to feel better about themselves? Save from suicide? Save from horrific hazing and/or murder?  No one?  Really?

The "OTHER GUY" who pulled three people from a car still killed one.  Does your god tell you that he's now a net +2 because math says it's 3-1? Because I'm thinking he will always be -1.  Most people never cause the death of anyone.  Yet lots of people find this particular killer to be heroic.  I see him as a guy who made a huge mistake that he will probably always regret, and for which he will never make up.

Thanks, added that to the list too. Six copies at the library for a book that's two years old, and they are still all checked out! Must be pretty good.

Different guy, Craig.  The football player thing was awesome. I think DTR was referring to George Zimmerman.
Omg Charger, I was referring to the football player and the other guy who helped him, pull 3 kids and a mom out of a burning car.  I think your high horse got up there where the air is to thin!  ;D. I don't hate anyone.  Why is it that " you liberals" deem anyone who says something is wrong as hating.  Sounds to me like you be the hater, not me.  To review, I never said a word about him or what he did.  I said she was wrong to be proud of what he did.  All the rest of your rant about hating and all that, must be drinking the lib cool-aide, bro ;).    Geez, in 4th grade when Hookbenders teacher said " what is 2+2" and he said "22" and she told him he was wrong, he didn't think she hated him and she didn't get blasted in the liberal news as a hate monger.  She just said he was wrong.  She probably liked him.   In fact, Amy tried something tonight and she had it wrong.  I had to tell her so so she stopped before something bad happened, but I love her more than anything.  Sorry for the sappy examples (ok, I am not at all sorry really.  So that was a lie... Which is wrong!  Ok crap, i hate myself!)   Saying something is wrong is not hating and I am pretty sick of libs trying to make it sound like it is.

No need to go ballistic because i disapprove of her misguided use of the word "proud."  I don't care what year it is, or what you believe vs. what I believe.  That IS NOT something to be proud of... IMHO

A big +1 to all of that.  Political correctness has gone mad in recent times. It seems nobody is allowed to voice their opinion about anything without being called homophobic, fascist, racist or any other number of 'ists'.  I too am in the camp that thinks homosexuality is wrong...not from any moral or religious point of view but from the view that it was never meant to be that way.  We exist on this planet for one reason only and that is to procreate and continue the line of the species, so sticking your dick up another mans ass is not going to do that no matter how hard you try to justify it !

But what if that fudge packin' pillow biter also happens to be a basketball player at a time when the first lady of the U.S. has a brother coaching a college basketball team?

See?

That makes all the difference.  ;)
she obviously wasn't praising him for having gay sex... that's not a feat. seems more likely that she was praising his courage to go public and how much that might help others.

I'd praise him for not lying to his wife anymore.

is homosexuality "wrong"? I'm intuitively inclined to say yes... it's wrong for me. but that's just because I don't innately desire men and think anal sex is disrespectful to the body (a sentiment probably not widely shared (though maybe it is, I don't know)... but that's what really turns me off about it, just being honest - I'm not partial to feces). but, aside from the mechanics, if a man innately desires sexual relationships with another man... I have no way to relate to that. so I hesitate to say it's wrong - instead, it's something I don't understand. I can say it's a serious health risk, though, because it (statistically/empirically) is (for men).

if it were wrong simply because it couldn't result in procreation... then masturbation and nocturnal emissions are wrong. women taking the pill is wrong. condoms are wrong. pulling out is wrong.

too catholic an approach to the issue for me (every sperm is sacred! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUspLVStPbk).
Sheep, a more elegant, well thought out way to say how I feel about it.  I simply say "homey don't play that."   ;D  And yeah, I get that she wasn't proud of him for having man-sex, but for "coming out."  My contention is simply, that is not a "pride worthy" action.  And this is not to Sheep, but to everyone, if you think that IS a pride worthy action, that is your opinion and this is mine.  Sheep, if you're every going to be proud of any feces related activity, it would be when your 2 year old learns to go on the big boy potty instead of the pants!  That is pride worthy! .  LOL  (only example I could think of. LOL)

I have a "WOMAN wife."  That's the only kind for me!  I also find her very attractive.  Kinda like that too.

And for the record, I have several customers and several friends (male and female) that are gay.  I don't hate them.  In fact, several of them are very good friends.  I don't talk bad about them when they are not around.  And, I don't firebomb their homes or any of the other things "you libs" try to imply...

I find it VERY interesting that seemingly intelligent people get caught up in this mindset...  you say something is wrong, they say you are a hate monger.  They go OFF on you in the press, the guitar forums and wherever else they can, and don't seem to realize they are the ones who are doing the hating!
I'm not hating on anyone.  You posted about how the first lady shouldn't be proud of Jason Collins for coming out as gay.  Now, you know sports, and you know that being gay in male organized sports is a hugely big deal, such a big deal that the few players we actually know about didn't come out til they were well out of the sport.  And we all know the level of violence and crap that a known gay player would have to put up with.  Jason Collins probably changed a whole bunch of lives, right there.  Having said all that, I think you know exactly where she was coming from, and where I was coming from.  If you don't approve of gay people, that's fine.  The times will change without you. But given your unique claimed "perspective" on sports which you always blather on about, I think you'd find it at least somewhat courageous and praiseworthy.  If you don't, I can't help you, but time will roll on without you.

Not one of you would blink an eye if you were watching two hot chicks make out.

Wait... homosexuality is wrong, but you don't like being called homophobic?  That must be very hard for you.

If it was "never meant to be that way," why did it happen? Why have humans been gay as long as we have recorded history?  Why do other animals, who can't even reason, go gay?  Was it "meant to be the way" that we have 6.5 billion people on earth, soon to be 7 billion?  Do we really need more procreating?
I never thought I'd see the day when the Pope was more progressive on homosexuality than... err... anyone...

Wait... homosexuality is wrong, but you don't like being called homophobic?  That must be very hard for you.

If it was "never meant to be that way," why did it happen? Why have humans been gay as long as we have recorded history?  Why do other animals, who can't even reason, go gay?  Was it "meant to be the way" that we have 6.5 billion people on earth, soon to be 7 billion?  Do we really need more procreating?

I think you have completely missed the point here.
