It reminds of a gig I did about 5 years ago, but the circumstances were reversed.
We were playing "whiskey in the jar" and it got to the solo and I went into it...all good.
About half way through the solo the bass player and rythmn guitarist decided to go into a random chord progression that had nothing to do with the song whatsoever so I then had to break out of the "correct" solo (which I had actually learned note for note) and try to follow what they were doing.....sounded bad, really bad.....fortunately the audience were all drunk so it didn't matter anyway :)
