The Watering Hole

it's 1am, just returned from London.

As part of Oliver's Birthday treats today we took him to London to see "we will rock you" at the Dominion Theatre, Tottenham Court Road.  What a fantastic show. Somewhere around 32 queen songs in total.  The live band were quite frankly amazing.  Every song was arranged exactly as the record.  Two guitarists both playing Brian May Red Specials into Vox Ac30's (with treble booster) and the guitar parts were just so polished in their performance, very impressive.   The whole thing was just so incredibly tight....and loud too.  We had good seats in the 4th road center stage.

Oliver loved it (as did Rhonda).  An all round excellent evenings entertainment.  If you find yourself in London at any time, go see it...well worth it.

off to bed now I think.
Ok, so the guitars were good (and I see it took two to make one Brian May :D ), but how was the Freddie Mercury stand-in?

Although it would be a tight contest, I think it might be harder to nail Freddie's singing than Brian's guitar playing.  :)

Good to hear it was enjoyable though!

Well, of course Freddie was unique so no-one is going to sound exactly like him, but the Freddie "Stand in" was very good.  Very strong voice and absolutely pitch perfect.   With a large chorus section too for all the operatic choirs etc that Freddie used to do.

I'm not usually a fan of "note for note" playing and singing etc, but as this was a stage show with a loose story line about queen then of course it absolutely required everything to be note for note.

Outstanding really.
Sounds like a great evening.  I'd go to that!
