Bubble Gum boring. We had to pay 5 bucks for parking, we got the tickets for free and I think we was robbed.

The musicianship was professional, but nothing special.

Mercifully the set was rather short.
Damn, they were boring even when they were popular....."horse with no name" and other such crap.

Don't think I would have gone even if the tickets were free.

You know, absolutely the best gig I've ever been to was John Lee Hooker a few years back. Just a complete blast from start to finish.
It was a definite yawner.

Best Concerts I ever saw was Santana on their first national tour, Neil Young With Crazy Horse just after he left Buffalo Springfield. Eric Clapton on the Layla tour after Cream and Bonny and Delaney, Peter Frampton last spring here in Phoenix, and also Kenny Loggins a few weeks later. In fact I was a fixture at The Electric Factory In Philly during the late 1960's, and 70's and saw all of the hippy bands before they got real big, James Gang, ZZ Top, Youngbloods, Canned Heat, Chicago on their first tour, Steppenwolf and gawd knows how many others. I was at the Original Woodstock event on the Saturday. and many other festivals. Can't pick just one. Saw Buddy Guy when he was partnered up with Junior Wells at a Bar on the New Jersey Shore, I saw Albert King there another weekend too (both times not 10 feet from the stage). I also saw some soul groups like the Manhattans (I was once part of a Doo Wop A-Capella group) and saw all of those type of groups too at different shows.
America sounds like one of the bands that Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm gets to play at their parks.  I like some of their songs if I'm in the right mood, but I doubt I'd go to see them in concert.  I DO like the beginning chords to Sister Goldenhair Surprise though (a nice B).  :)
They were OK. The tickets were free, and we had good seats, the girls liked them so they are a girly man band.
gents,

I saw them last march at a private party in DC.  not a small party, about 1000 people.  I have never seen them and have always wanted to.

I really enjoyed them... especially the rocked out version of "sandman'.

I disagree with you guys.  ok they're old, so are we.... man, the seventies wouldn't be the same without america.

I'm with Jon on this one.  They were boring even when they were popular!
I suppose they weren't too boring to all of the thousands of people who bought their albums and went to their concerts when they were popular and even now a days.  I don't have any of their posters on my walls but I still play their music from time to time.  It helps some of the ladies revert to their younger years and lose their inhibitions without too much labor on my part :) .
All the ladies and non musicians in our party loved them. The crowd went wild over their stuff.

They are rich from their music, I am poorer because of mine (GAS) (Da Bloozeman laments).

I wonder who is more right. I still don't like that kind of music but it sure sells.

Keebo, whatever gets the drawers open for you! (Even if you occasionally have to resort too.....

MANILOW!   :o :o     ;D
Well, I don't know about Barry, but I have been successful in playing "Are we gonna f%@# or am I just wasting my time" by Hit Or Miss :) .
I love "Sister Golden Hair" but I don't think I'd ever go see them.
