OK so Tropical Storm Fay was coming, they said. Prepare for the worst, could be a week without power, blah blah, etc...
Well, so far it has been a huge disappointment. This happens every few years, they hype the hell out of a storm and not so much as an exra inch of rain comes of it. Banks, schools, city and county services, all closed because Fay is coming. I stayed up until 4 am with some Sky Vodka waiting for the big event... Then I woke up early today, and not so much as a nice rain storm.
At th job, both the site contractor my and the Superintendent of my division bave declared today a manditory day off, we are closed. I worked last week in much harsher weather conditions than we are seeing today.
They did this when Floyd came too, and for that storm my ex and I got high as hell and sat on our paion sipping many homemade Long Island Iced Tea waiting for the big non event.
Don't get me wrong, this storm was barely a category 1 so it's not like I'm being foolish by waiting, hoping for it. I tracked it for a few days and called exactly what has happened so far, except I had predicted a bit more rain and wind. If it had been a Cat 2 or bigger and had followed a sronger path towards J-ville, I may have been a little worried, but this was one pussy of a storm to begin with.
I shake my fist at the sky in defiance.
I have learned today that Vodka, while not being the ideal addititve to my coffee compared to Kaluha or Baily's, isn't all that bad.
