Listening to Music

I just got on... it's kind of like Pandora, but you can pick which tracks you want to listen to... and then listen to them over and over... so it's not really like Pandora at all... except that it is online... I'm making up a playlist right now...
I've checked it out
but I think http://www.deezer.com is a better seems to have a bigger selection of music including classical available and I prefer the site generally.

If Pandora was shut down in the UK for copyright issues, it won't be long for imeem and deezer.  Pandora didn't even let you choose what specific songs you listened to... with imeem/deezer, you can play the same track all day long...
Deezer is paying royalties through advertising on a per listen basis (fraction of a penny)
I expect IMeem is doing the same.

Pandora was using an internet  radio route and they came to some kind of agreement in the US that didn't fly in the UK or Europe.

Seems Deezer is legit - whether it makes enough money to pay the royalties is another matter.

Deezer is a French site I believe - there is a uk one.

http://www.last.fm is a uk one - which seems to have better audio quality funnily enough now I listen again
also seems to have caught up on content

for comparison - same track does it sound the same to you on both sites - i am guessing 128kb quality ?

http://www.deezer.com/track/1037

last.fm  sounds  higher fidelity - deezer sounds about 64kb - I dunno both are pretty low

Anyway the song has gone into preview mode on last.fm so it must limit the number of listens per user in a time frame - something that would probably not bother me or notice usually - but I was switching between sites listening.

Actually thinking about it - it was that previewing thing the annoyed me about Last.fm and made me settle on Deezer.
